The Music Hall Mini Plus is an affordable, low-noise phono preamplifier with considerably more adjustment than its compact dimensions suggest. Designed for moving-magnet and high-output moving-coil cartridges, it supplies accurate RIAA equalization and the gain needed to connect a turntable to a standard line-level input.
Three selectable capacitance settings—120pF, 220pF, and 330pF—let you more closely match the preamp to your cartridge manufacturer’s recommended load. This can help optimize tonal balance and high-frequency performance, particularly with moving-magnet cartridges that respond audibly to changes in capacitance.
An adjustable trim-gain control provides output from 31.64 dB to 45.66 dB. Use it to add gain for a lower-output cartridge or quiet recording, or reduce gain when a high-output cartridge produces excessive level. A switchable 20Hz rumble filter helps prevent record warps, turntable vibration, and other subsonic information from wasting amplifier power or causing unnecessary woofer movement.
The Mini Plus also includes a built-in headphone amplifier with a convenient 1/8-inch output, allowing private vinyl listening without a separate headphone amp. Gold-plated RCA connections, a rigid chassis, vibration-damping feet, and an external power supply complete a versatile phono stage that is easy to integrate into systems ranging from powered speakers to traditional stereo components.
