The body is machined aluminum with a diamond-cut edge and a leather facing underneath, so what meets the label is leather rather than metal. It measures 78 millimeters across and 33 millimeters tall, and weighs 120 grams — 0.26 pounds on the platter bearing.

Thirty-three millimeters is tall for a clamp. On a turntable whose dust cover closes near the platter, measure that clearance before ordering, and remember a thick mat raises the record and shortens the spindle available to the collet.

It needs a spindle long enough and free enough for the collet to grip. A fixed spindle, such as the one on the Pro-Ject A1, has nothing for it to hold, and a short spindle does not give it enough to work with.

Set the record on the platter and let it settle. Lower the Clamp it over the spindle until the leather facing meets the label, then turn the body until you feel the collet take hold and the record draw down. Add a little more for a record that will not sit flat. Release the grip before lifting it away.
