Innovations and Enhancements

Pro-Ject's RPM-1 Carbon utilizes several innovations and enhancements since the design of its predecessor, the RPM-1. A low resonance chassis holds a newly designed inverted platter bearing with a ceramic ball to further reduce the low-frequency rumble, which plagues many inexpensive turntables. The advanced outboard 15-volt AC motor is smoothly driven using an ultra-precision AC generator with a DC power supply for enhanced speed stability. You can really hear the difference that this motor makes in the fidelity of your music.

Newly Designed S-Shaped Tonearm

For the RPM-1 Carbon, Pro-Ject went deep into R&D for a completely new design in an 8.6-inch S-shaped tonearm tube. This advanced tube is made from a special combination of carbon fiber, aluminum, and resin. Using a complex three-step process involving heat treatment and high pressure, the arm tube rigidity is strengthened, internal damping is maximized, and resonances are reduced to a minimum. You've got to experience this tonearm to believe it.

These attributes make the RPM-1 Carbon's tonearm suitable for superior results using MC moving coil cartridges as well as MM moving magnet cartridges, and this is a feature not often found in turntables in this price range.

Additional features include a new magnetic antiskating mechanism and a TPE-damped counterweight. All of these ingredients add up to a miracle in sound for the price along with ultra-stylish looks. The 300mm platter is made from heavy MDF with a felt mat.
