Deeply Groovy Award - The Audiophile Man
Audiolab's new 9000 Series represents a new standard in home audio for the connoisseur, and the 9000P is no exception. This dedicated power amplifier for analog source components has been designed in line with the smart aesthetic and exemplary performance of the rest of the 9000 series – solidly built and impeccably finished.
The development of the 9000Q preamplifier raised the question of system expansion and thus led to the birth of the 9000P, the dedicated power amplifier option that makes the perfect partner for your other 9000-series components.
For the purist hi-fi enthusiast who doesn’t require a built-in DAC, onboard streaming capability, or wireless connectivity, this no-nonsense power amp designed with only one goal in mind – superior music reproduction – delivers an outstanding listening experience.
"It is Just a Joy"
Audiolab's 9000P power amp and 9000Q preamp won a Deeply Groovy Award from Paul Rigby, The Audiophile Man.
"Let me say this before I go any further. The 9000P and 9000Q go together so well. If you grab both and hook them together, they fit like a hand in a glove. Connecting these two boxes together and pushing music through the pair is a joy in terms of the listening experience. They are so compatible."
"Music is smooth to the ear, and it moves in a serene manner. There are no bumps along the sonic road. Listening to the both the P and the Q is like listening to a slow-moving river on a lazy sunny, summer afternoon. It is pure relaxation."
"It’s just a joy to be in their company."
"Best Power Amp Yet"
According to What Hi-Fi? magazine's Becky Roberts, "The 9000P is Audiolab’s 'best power amp yet' and, unsurprising considering the company’s experience with the design, a Class A/B implementation. At its engineering core is a dual-mono circuit topology, with separate power supplies for the left and right channel, and a Complementary Feedback output stage design, which keeps idle current independent of the temperature of the output transistors in the name of excellent thermal stability."
"The two new Audiolab components 9000Q and 9000P have proven themselves to be excellent in testing," reports Carsten Rampacher, areadvd.de, December 11, 2024. "The characteristic clear design and the high quality of workmanship, even in the details, are immediately apparent after unpacking the two hi-fi components. Solidly formed aluminum dominates everywhere, and the preamplifier has an excellently implemented color display."
Firm Control and Excellent Dynamic Range
Key to the impeccable performance of the 9000P is Audiolab's exclusive CFB (Complementary Feedback) topology. It ensures superior linearity and excellent thermal stability, as the idle current is kept independent of the temperature of the output transistors.
An all-new and custom specified 320VA toroidal transformer, followed by 4 x 15,000uF reservoir capacity (60,000uF in total), helps the amp maintain firm control of the music while also facilitating excellent dynamic range.
Power and Performance, Plus Dual Functionality
The 9000P power amplifier follows suit with the Audiolab 9000A integrated amplifier by offering a dedicated 100W per channel into 8 ohms, making it the ideal like-for-like accompaniment for the 9000Q preamplifier.
Following the success and acclaim of the Audiolab 8300MB mono power amplifier option, the 9000P also offers dual functionality with bridged-mode capability, thus converting it to a 'monoblock' power amplifier that offers 300W into 8 ohms, should you desire this much power in hi-fi, home theater, or other applications.
To activate bridged mode, press the STEREO/BRIDGE selector on the rear panel. In a stereo set-up, you will need two Audiolab 9000P amplifiers if using bridge mode (one for each channel).
Protection Mode for Peace of Mind
The Audiolab 9000P is fully protected against overload and a short circuited output. A thermal switch interrupts the AC power supply if the amplifier is severely overloaded for a period of time. In case of activation of the ‘protection mode,’ the power indicator LED flashes to indicated that the unit is in ‘protection mode’. To restore operation, simply press the standby button on the front panel. You will most likely never need these safeguards, but this thoughtful level of protection provides peace of mind.
Solid, Sophisticated Design and Build
Designed with the smart aesthetic of the 9000 series - solidly built and impeccably finished – the 9000P will complement your other 9000-series components in terms of both style and performance.
When it comes to power amplifiers, the 9000P stands unmatched at its price point. Its versatility is a testament to its greatness—whether used as a stereo power amplifier with a preamplifier, streamer, or transport, as an add-on to enhance an existing system, or in a monoblock setup for those demanding higher power. The 9000P truly sets a new standard in the world of audio excellence.
