What You Need to Know
What Is the WTX-StreamTubes?
The WTX-StreamTubes is a network audio streamer. You connect it to your home network (via Ethernet or Wi-Fi), and it streams music directly from your chosen services — Spotify, Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer, Amazon Music, TuneIn, vTuner, and more. It also plays your local music library stored on a NAS drive, computer, smartphone, or tablet. The output goes to your amplifier or preamplifier, just like any other source component.
What makes the WTX-StreamTubes different from any other network streamer at its price point is the tube output stage. Two Raytheon 5703 subminiature tubes in a Class A configuration handle the analog output. According to Advance Paris, this imparts a warmth and musicality to streamed audio — the feeling of listening to vinyl, applied to digital streaming. It is the same tube design used in the standalone WTX-Tubes Bluetooth receiver, but here paired with full network streaming capability.
Note: The WTX-StreamTubes is a source component only. It does not include an amplifier. You’ll need to connect it to a separate amplifier or preamplifier to drive speakers.
Streaming Services, Control, and Multi-Room
The WTX-StreamTubes supports a wide range of streaming services via the Advance PlayStream app (iOS and Android). It is DLNA and AirPlay compatible. Reviewers at Audio T (September 2024) noted that the WTX-StreamTubes can also be controlled through the WiiM Home app, which many users find more intuitive. The device supports multi-room playback — you can send the same or different audio to multiple WTX-StreamTubes units across your home. An optional X-FTB01 or X-FTB02 Bluetooth module plugs into the proprietary expansion port to add wireless Bluetooth input from your phone.
What Do Reviewers Say?
Audio T (UK retailer/reviewer) reviewed the WTX-StreamTubes in September 2024, comparing it to the Bluesound Node, WiiM Ultra, and WiiM Pro+. The reviewer praised the tube output stage as the decisive differentiator: “The implementation of 5703 subminiature valves in the output stage delivers a sound that is both smooth and engaging, with a natural warmth that complements a wide range of musical genres.” The reviewer noted that vocals and instruments sounded particularly alive, with well-controlled bass and non-harsh treble. A caveat: the unit requires a break-in period before sounding its best. The Advance PlayStream app was noted as familiar in interface to WiiM Home. — Audio T, September 2024
Who Is This Best For?
You already have a quality amplifier and want to add network streaming without a generic-sounding digital source.
You love the warmth of tube sound and want it applied to your streaming services rather than buying a separate tube amplifier.
You want multi-room streaming capability via multiple WTX-StreamTubes units.
You prefer the WTX-Tubes Bluetooth receiver but also want built-in network streaming without relying on your phone as the source.
How Does It Connect?
Connect via Ethernet (preferred for stability) or Wi-Fi. The analog RCA output goes to any available line-level input on your amplifier or preamplifier. Optical Toslink and coaxial RCA digital outputs are also available if you want to bypass the tube stage and use an external DAC. A power adapter is included; the optional Bluetooth module plugs into the proprietary port on the rear panel. The Advance PlayStream app (iOS/Android) controls the streamer, or use the WiiM Home app for DLNA-compatible control.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the WTX-StreamTubes different from the WTX-Tubes?
The WTX-Tubes is a Bluetooth-only receiver — it wirelessly receives audio from your phone or tablet and outputs it through a tube stage to your amplifier. The WTX-StreamTubes does everything the WTX-Tubes does via its optional Bluetooth module, but adds full Wi-Fi and Ethernet network streaming: Spotify, Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer, Amazon Music, TuneIn, and your local library. Both use the same Raytheon 5703 tube output stage.
Does this include an amplifier?
No. The WTX-StreamTubes is a source component — it streams and outputs audio but does not amplify it. You need to connect it to a separate integrated amplifier, preamplifier, or powered speakers to hear music through your speakers.
Can I control it with the WiiM Home app?
According to the Audio T review (September 2024), yes — the WTX-StreamTubes can be controlled through the WiiM Home app, which many users find more intuitive than the Advance PlayStream app. The native Advance PlayStream app is also available for iOS and Android.
What else do I need?
A home network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), an amplifier or preamplifier with a line-level input, and an RCA interconnect cable (not included). A power adapter is included. If you want Bluetooth input, add the optional X-FTB01 or X-FTB02 module.
