What You Need to Know
What Is the X-FTB02?
The Advance Paris X-FTB02 is a tiny Bluetooth add-on for certain Advance Paris amps and preamps. It plugs into a port on the back of your amp. No wires. No power cord. No extra box on your shelf.
Once it’s in, you can stream music from your phone, tablet, or laptop to your hi-fi system over Bluetooth. That’s it — simple as that.
Why Is This Better Than Regular Bluetooth?
Most Bluetooth devices compress your music a lot. That means some of the detail gets lost along the way. You might not notice on earbuds. But on a good hi-fi system, you can hear the difference.
The X-FTB02 uses a codec called aptX HD. A codec is just the method your phone uses to send music over Bluetooth. aptX HD sends 24-bit audio — the same quality used in hi-res music files. According to Advance Paris, it delivers a signal-to-noise ratio over 120 dB with just 0.003% distortion. In plain terms: more of your music comes through clean and clear.
There’s another smart design choice here. Most Bluetooth receivers turn the digital signal into analog inside the receiver itself. The X-FTB02 does not do that. Instead, it passes the digital signal straight to your amp’s own DAC — the chip inside your amp that turns digital music into sound. According to Advance Paris, this skips an extra conversion step and keeps the audio cleaner.
Does It Work with Every Phone?
Yes. The X-FTB02 supports four Bluetooth codecs: aptX HD, aptX, aptX LL (Low Latency), AAC, and SBC. That covers every Bluetooth phone and tablet out there.
One thing to know: iPhones use AAC, not aptX HD. AAC still sounds good — it’s a step up from basic Bluetooth. But to get the full aptX HD quality, you need an Android phone or device that supports it.
The aptX LL codec is great for video. It keeps the audio in sync with what you see on screen. So if you watch a movie from your phone through your hi-fi speakers, lips and sound will match up.
What About the Processor Inside?
The X-FTB02 uses a tri-core processor — that means three processing cores working together. There’s a dual-core 32-bit chip plus a single 120 MHz core. This runs on Qualcomm’s QCC platform, which is well-known in the Bluetooth audio world.
According to Advance Paris, this setup keeps music playing smoothly with no gaps or stutters — even with high-quality aptX HD streams.
Who Is This Best For?
You own a compatible Advance Paris amp or preamp and want to add wireless streaming without a separate device.
You stream music from your phone and want the best Bluetooth sound you can get.
You have an Android phone with aptX HD and want to use it fully.
You want a clean look — no extra boxes or cables on your rack.
You already have the X-FTB01 (aptX only) and want to step up to aptX HD.
How Do You Set It Up?
Turn off your amp. Plug the X-FTB02 into the Bluetooth port on the back. Turn your amp back on. Done.
The module gets its power from the amp. There’s nothing else to plug in. It’s tiny — just 2.16” × 0.51” × 1.10” and under half an ounce. You won’t even see it once it’s installed. Bluetooth range is about 10 meters (33 feet), which is plenty for most rooms.
Important: This module only works with Advance Paris products that have the Bluetooth expansion port. It will not work with other brands. Compatible models include the A10 Classic, A12 Classic, X-i75, X-P700, PlayStream A7, MyConnect 250, and WTX-StreamTubes. Not sure if yours has the port? Features & Specifications
Better Sound Over Bluetooth — aptX HD
The X-FTB02 supports aptX HD, Qualcomm’s high-quality Bluetooth codec. It streams 24-bit audio from your phone or tablet. That means a signal-to-noise ratio over 120 dB and distortion at just 0.003%. More of the original recording reaches your amp intact.
Works with Every Bluetooth Device
The module supports five codecs: aptX HD, aptX, aptX LL (low latency for video), AAC (Apple’s preferred codec), and SBC (the universal standard). No matter what phone or tablet you use, it connects.
Smooth Playback — Tri-Core Processor
A dual-core 32-bit processor plus a 120 MHz single core handle audio decoding. According to Advance Paris, this keeps music playing with no gaps or lag, even with high-quality streams.
Cleaner Signal — Digital Pass-Through
The X-FTB02 sends the audio signal in digital form to your amp’s own DAC. According to Advance Paris, this avoids an extra conversion step and keeps the sound quality as high as possible.
Reliable Wireless Connection — Bluetooth 5.0
Bluetooth 5.0 resists interference better than older versions. It holds a steady connection up to 10 meters (about 33 feet) — enough for any normal listening room.
Plug-In Design — No Cables or Power Supply
The X-FTB02 plugs right into the expansion port on the back of your amp. It weighs just 10 grams (under half an ounce) and measures 2.16” wide. Once installed, it’s invisible.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the X-FTB01 and the X-FTB02?
Both plug into the same port on your Advance Paris amp. The X-FTB01 uses aptX, which sends CD-quality audio (16-bit / 44.1 kHz). The X-FTB02 uses aptX HD, which sends up to 24-bit / 48 kHz — closer to hi-res quality. The X-FTB02 also adds aptX LL (Low Latency) for watching video. If you want the best sound from Bluetooth, the X-FTB02 is the one to get.
Which Advance Paris products work with the X-FTB02?
It works with the A10 Classic, A12 Classic, X-i75, X-P700, PlayStream A7, MyConnect 250, and WTX-StreamTubes. Look for the Bluetooth expansion port on the back of your amp. If you’re not sure, call us at 800-942-0220.
Will this work with my iPhone?
Yes. iPhones use AAC over Bluetooth, and the X-FTB02 supports AAC. AAC sounds good — it’s better than basic SBC. But to use aptX HD, you need a device that supports it, like many Android phones.
Is it hard to install?
Not at all. Turn off your amp. Plug the X-FTB02 into the port on the back. Turn it on. That’s it. No cables. No power adapter. It takes about 30 seconds.
Does it work with amps from other brands?
No. The X-FTB02 uses a connector made only for Advance Paris products. It will not fit amps from other brands. If you need a Bluetooth add-on for a different amp, call us and we’ll help you find the right one.
How far can I be from the amp when streaming?
About 10 meters, or 33 feet, in open space. Walls and furniture may shorten the range a bit. For most living rooms, that’s more than enough.
Can I use aptX HD and aptX LL at the same time?
No. Your phone and the module pick one codec when they pair. If your phone supports aptX HD, it will use that. If you switch to a device that uses aptX LL, it will use that instead. This all happens automatically.
Do I need anything else?
Just a compatible Advance Paris amp and a phone, tablet, or laptop with Bluetooth. The module gets power from the amp. No extra cables or apps are needed.
