What You Need to Know
Lightning strikes make headlines — but the power surges that actually kill AV gear over time are the ones you never notice. Appliances turning on and off, HVAC systems, refrigerators, LED drivers, and switching power supplies all inject tiny power spikes onto your home’s AC line dozens of times a day.
Most 3-mode surge protectors can’t stop these small “micro-spikes.” Instead, they send the extra energy into your gear’s ground — slowly damaging the small, sensitive chips inside your gear.
The PowerQuest G8 was designed to solve both problems: the catastrophic surges that happen during storms, and the daily micro-spikes that most surge strips make worse. It’s a slim 8-outlet strip in a durable, low-profile enclosure with a flat-to-wall 45-degree plug, high-speed USB-A and USB-C charging, and RF noise-dissipation — all for well under the price of a conditioner.
Micro-Spike Technology
AudioQuest’s Micro-Spike circuit intercepts the small, frequent power spikes that most surge protectors miss — preventing the damage that builds up and shortens the life of modern electronics.
Catastrophic-Surge Protection
Rated for lightning strikes and large-scale surges: 2,160 joules, maximum spike 6 kV, maximum current 144 kA.
RF Noise-Dissipation
Filters RF interference from cellular, WiFi, satellite, Bluetooth, and other wireless sources — rated at −40 dB from 150 kHz to 100 MHz.
High-Speed USB Charging
One USB-A port (5VDC / 2.4A) and one USB-C port (5VDC / 3.0A) built in — fast enough for modern phones, tablets, and accessories.
Flat-to-Wall 45° Plug
Fits tight spaces behind furniture, TV cabinets, or wall-mounted displays where a standard plug wouldn’t clear.
C-UL Listed to 1449 Series III
Covered by AudioQuest Assurance, which includes up to $500,000 of connected-equipment coverage and a 5-year limited warranty.
Who Is This Product Best For?
You want full surge protection for a TV, gaming console, computer, home theater, or desktop setup without stepping up to a full AC power conditioner.
You need to hide the surge strip in a tight space — behind a TV mount, inside a cabinet, behind a desk — where the flat-to-wall 45° plug and slim 1.2” profile matter.
You want USB-A and USB-C charging built right into the strip.
You want an AudioQuest-engineered product that’s more thoughtful than a generic power strip, without the investment of a rack-mount conditioner.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between this and a regular surge protector?
A regular surge protector typically uses 3-mode MOV-based suppression. It can guard against catastrophic surges but can’t stop the daily micro-spikes that slowly damage sensitive electronics. Worse, many 3-mode strips send extra energy into your gear’s ground, which can cause damage that builds up over time.
The G8’s Micro-Spike Technology is built to catch those smaller spikes all the time, while Catastrophic-Surge Protection handles the big strikes. Add RF Noise-Dissipation and you get a far more comprehensive surge protector than a generic power strip.
Is this a power conditioner like the PowerQuest 303 or 505?
No. The G8 is a surge-protector and performance-enhancer strip — a different product category from AudioQuest’s PowerQuest rack-mount conditioners.
The 303, 505, 707, and 909 use Non-Sacrificial Surge Protection (withstanding repeated 6,000V / 3,000A surges) plus Linear Noise-Dissipation filters across the audio and RF bandwidths. They’re built for dedicated two-channel and multichannel home theater systems.
The G8 is simpler and more affordable, with its own strengths: Micro-Spike Technology, catastrophic surge handling, RF filtering, and a compact form factor.
If you have a high-end system, step up to a PowerQuest rack-mount conditioner. If you want serious surge protection for a TV, computer, or gaming setup, the G8 is the right product.
What’s the Micro-Spike Technology?
AudioQuest coined “Micro-Spike” to describe the small, fast power spikes that appliances, HVAC systems, motors, and switching power supplies generate dozens of times per day on a home’s AC line.
These are too small to trigger a typical surge protector but large enough to slowly damage the modern surface-mount chips inside your gear over time. The G8’s Micro-Spike circuit is built to catch these spikes before they reach your gear.
What’s covered by the warranty?
The G8 comes with AudioQuest Assurance — a 5-year limited warranty on the product itself, plus up to $500,000 of connected-equipment coverage in the event of a surge-related equipment failure while properly connected through the G8. Specific coverage terms and claim procedures are documented in the AudioQuest Assurance documentation included in the packaging.
Where should I install it?
The flat-to-wall 45° plug and slim 1.2” profile make the G8 easy to fit in tight spaces — behind a wall-mounted TV, inside a media cabinet, behind a desk, or anywhere you’d normally struggle to fit a thicker surge strip.
Plug high-demand gear (AV receivers, soundbars, TVs) and sensitive electronics (game consoles, streaming boxes, computers, Apple TV, PS5, Xbox) into the AC outlets. Use the USB-C and USB-A ports for phones, tablets, remotes, and other devices.
