Cambridge Audio's "Sound First" Philosophy
All the decisions Cambridge Audio makes while designing its products are made to make your music and movies sound amazing, in accordance with the company's Sound First Philosophy. The SX-80s use highly optimized woofer magnet systems to deliver controlled bass and high efficiency. They have a specifically treated paper cone to provide a smooth and even frequency response. And the silk dome tweeter delivers perfect accuracy and detail to ensure you hear every beat and every line of your music and movies exactly as they were intended.
The drivers are housed in a rigid MDF cabinet using CAD (computer-aided design) precision to ensure that the speaker dimensions minimize standing waves and unwanted cabinet vibration. Cambridge Audio also uses dedicated foam dampeners behind the tweeter diaphragm to reduce acoustic reflection whilst deepening the stage depth. The result is an audio performance with accuracy and cinematic scale.
The rear ported system design combines with the dual 6.5" woofers to create low bass response dipping to 40 Hz. The high frequency driver is a 1" silk dome tweeter. Sensitivity is 87 dB, impedance is 8 Ohms, and dimensions are 9.4" wide, 38.6" high, and 13.3" deep. Weight is 37.3 lbs. each.
