"You May Find Yourself Gobsmacked," Raves Stereophile
GoldenEar's aptly named Triton Two+ retains everything that's great about the Triton Two floorstanding speaker and then add extra plusses for a significant upgrade.
The Triton Two set the audio world on its proverbial ear with extraordinary sound quality, elegant styling and previously unimaginable value. It has earned an incredible series of rave reviews and industry accolades from around the world — including more than a few "Speaker of the Year" and "Audio Product of the Year" awards. "Listening with them paralleled previous encounters with no-holds-barred speakers – ones priced upwards of $50,000," raves Al Griffin of Sound & Vision.
And now comes the Triton Two+. The sleek, 48"-tall Two+ incorporates many of the technologies and refinements developed for the Triton One, including a fully balanced crossover design, high-end film capacitors, redesigned midrange/upper-bass drivers, and a reprogrammed DSP.
"A Significantly Upgraded Speaker"
"If you're one of those rare audiophiles who have yet to hear any of GoldenEar's Triton models, I suggest that you give the Triton Two+ a listen. You may find yourself gobsmacked," raves Robert Deutsch in his Stereophile magazine review for December 2016.
"The Triton Two+ borrows heavily from its larger sibling in a number of ways," reports Dennis Burger, hometheaterreview.com magazine, October 31, 2020. "What's new this time around? The upper-bass/midrange drivers, for one thing, which feature a new cone, surround, spider, and voice coil. The Triton Two+ also benefits from a new crossover design and a completely reprogrammed DSP for the active low-frequency section, based on that of the Triton One, with fewer filter stages in the signal path. That's a pretty broad view of the physical changes, but it doesn't cover the hours upon hours spent listening and tweaking the new design. Those tiny little tweaks here and there add up to a significantly upgraded speaker."
Formidible Drivers
The built-in subwoofer section is powered by a 1200-watt GoldenEar ForceField digital amplifier driving two 5″ x 9″ front-mounted quadratic subwoofer bass drivers coupled to dual opposing side-mounted, inertially-balanced, 7″ x 10″ Quadratic Planar Back-Wave-Driven Radiators.
The two 4-1/2″ spider-leg cast-basket midrange/upper bass drivers, which incorporate GoldenEar's proprietary Multi-Vaned Phase Plug (MVPP™) design, are housed in dual discreet chambers arranged in a D'Appolito array surrounding GoldenEar's extraordinary High-Velocity Folded Ribbon AMT tweeter design.
The Triton Two+'s dynamic, effortless, you-are-there clarity will almost literally put the live performance or action right into your home, or conversely, put you into the concert hall or the live action on the screen.
Boxless, Three-Dimensional Imaging
Performance-wise, the Triton T2+ delivers the same boxless three-dimensional imaging as its smaller sibling, the Triton Three+. Critical praise is best summed up by one review's rave that the Three+ "had us believing that the entire surface of the front wall was covered with speakers."
Likewise, the powerful, deep subwoofer bass of the Two+ blends perfectly with the silky smooth, utterly transparent midrange and high frequencies, putting many dramatically more expensive speakers to shame.
GoldenEar's Acclaimed Triton Towers
GoldenEar's Triton Towers have set the audio world on its proverbial ear with extraordinary sound quality, elegant styling and unequalled value. They have earned an incredible series of awards and honors all around the world.
Tritons are the latest signature creation of Sandy Gross, whose award winning loudspeakers have been impressing and delighting reviewers and listeners for over 40 years. Incorporating cutting-edge technologies like High Velocity Folded Ribbon tweeters, advanced technology drivers with GoldenEar's highly evolved and sophisticated bass-loading technology, linear-phase fully balanced crossover networks and inertially-balanced quadratic planar infrasonic radiators, they are, in the words of Stereophile's Robert Deutsch, "the holy grail of audio that we all seek."
