Recommended Component 2025 – Stereophile
Use It with New Records as Well as 'Oldies'
Use LAST Power Cleaner first. Use it as soon you take a new LP out of its sleeve. LAST Power Cleaner is specifically designed to remove record pressing residue (“mold release”) and contaminants left by the manufacturing process. These sticky residues bind tightly to the groove wall and hold contamination that regular record cleaners cannot remove.
"Recommended Component" Honors
Stereophile honored LAST Power Cleaner for LPs by awarding it the magazine's coveted Recommend Component status for 2025.
According to Stereophile, "This small bottle of Freon-free cleaner is enough to treat 75 LPs. JE found just three drops sufficient to remove dirt, dust, and grime from garage-sale records, though he discovered that a subsequent wash with his VPI HW-17 was still required to reduce groove noise to acceptable levels. "A worthwhile companion to LAST's wonderful Record Preservative."
Great for 'Old, Dirty Records,' Too
LAST Power Cleaner also removes stubborn contamination on old dirty records revealing the brand-new sound you thought was lost from your vintage find. It is formulated for manual application, so it leaves no residue and requires only three drops per side.
LAST Power Cleaner comes with two of LAST's fine-nap applicators. These reach well into the record grooves for a thorough clean. With a freshly cleaned record in hand, follow up with LAST Record Preservative.
Just one cleaning with LAST Power Cleaner results in a record surface that is pristinely clean.
Please note that LAST Power Cleaner is not for use on shellac records.
