"Best Silver Disc Spinner at the Price"

The Musical Fidelity M3scd Compact Disc Player has been designed to deliver outstanding CD reproduction and to be a very high quality digital hub.

In addition to playing CDs, it has three digital inputs: coax, optical, and asynchronous USB. This makes it particularly useful for set-top boxes or TV sound improvement.

The technical performance of the M3scd is excellent, It has everything you would ever want in in an audio component, including very low distortion, extremely low jitter, excellent signal-to-noise ratio, extremely flat frequency response, exemplary linearity, and excellent channel separation. It provides excellent CD replay and superb performance with other digital sources.

"Don't be dissuaded by the fact that Musical Fidelity isn't especially renowned for Compact Disc, then," suggest David Price, stereonet.com, February 9, 2021. "It's crisp, well-etched and detailed, yet not overly analytical or forensic. To my ears at least, this is the best-balanced silver disc spinner at the price."

    Unsurpassed Playability

The M3scd uses a top quality CD mechanism with unsurpassed playability. For best performance, Musical Fidelity advises caution with using cheap and/or computer type CD-R/RW disks for audio. To ensure optimum reliability and performance, home-generated CDs intended for playback should be recorded as CDDA AUDIO CDs (the unit does not playback MP3, WAV, encoded disks) on good quality household brand AUDIO type CD-R/RWs burned at a slower speed, such as 16x.

Immeasurably Low Jitter, Noise, and Distortion with All Sources

The M3scd's digital inputs allow the connection of external digital audio sources such as TV, streamers, and computers, which benefit from its internal high quality DAC circuits.

Inputs consist of one RCA coaxial connection SPDIF, 32-192kHz (16-24 bit stereo PCM), one Toslink optical connection 32-96kHz (16-24 bit stereo PCM), and one USB type ‘B’ connection with asynchronous data stream at up to 24-bit/96kHz.

Outputs consist of one line level RCA analog connection, one RCA coaxial connection (Digital SPDIF), and one Toslink optical connection (Digital SPDIF).

A trigger input and output provide convenient system integration.

    Oversampling, Upsampling, and Digital Filtering

All connections use a top quality oversampling 24 bit 192 kHz upsampling digital-to-analog converter. The upsampling action moves the digital artefacts to well outside the audio band, allowing easy removal without detriment to the top end of the audio band.

The well-tuned proprietary filtering circuit gives immeasurably low jitter, noise and distortion artefacts, allowing astounding imaging, detail and transparency, to deliver all music types exactly as the artist originally intended.

Partners with M3/M3s and M6/M6s Series Products

The M3scd is designed to be partnered with present and future M3/M3s and M6/M6s series products. This combination yields one of the best high-fidelity systems available at any price. Used properly and carefully, it should give many years of outstanding musical reproduction.

For convenient armchair operation, a universal wireless remote control is included.
