High-Output Version of Acclaimed Cusis E Cartridge

If you would like to move up to a moving coil cartridge without having to upgrade your current moving magnet phono preamp, the E/H is for you.

The Cusis E/H is the high output variant of Michell's highly acclaimed Cusis E moving coil (MC) cartridge, allowing it to now be used with moving magnet (MM) phono stages. This feature makes the E/H incredibly friendly to a large swath of audiophiles who might otherwise never experience the joys of a Cusis cartridge.

The Cusis E/H and Cusis E comprise the entry point of Michell's moving coil cartridge line, giving great detail and musicality, supporting the intentions of the recording artist and engineer. The high-output Cusis E/H has an output voltage of 2mV, compared to 0.35mV for the low-output Cusis E.

The Cusis E/H has an elliptical stylus, which offers improved frequency response and lower distortion – especially on the inner grooves of an LP. Other features include an aluminum cantilever, a large aluminum chassis, and a high-density Acetyl body. The coil material is pure 30µ copper. Channel separation is 22dB.

    "Extremely Compelling"

Hi-Fi Choice awarded the Cusis E its top rating of Five Stars in its December 2020 issue. According to the magazine, the Cusis E "balances accuracy with sweetness – so, less-than-pristine pressings still shine… Beyond getting the basics right, this moving-coil cart has a sweetness and immediacy to everything it does that is extremely compelling."

    Behind the Cusis Cartridges

All of Michell's Cusis cartridges share the same moving coil design. At the heart of the cartridge is a samarium-cobalt magnet, which is combined with pure iron to create a very stable magnetic field within the cartridge.

Pure 30μ copper wire is used to precision wind the cartridge coils onto an ultra-lightweight armature, which is mounted onto a specially designed damper. This damper has been specifically designed to give the stylus assembly the perfect support, which ensures the stylus tracks the groove precisely.

The number of coils, resultant output, and body material are optimized for each model's stylus assembly to give the best possible audio output.

Advanced Design Eliminates Vibration and Resonance

The construction of each Cusis cartridge has been carefully designed to eliminate vibration and resonance. The aluminum chassis is designed to absorb unwanted vibration and give a rigid platform to mount the cartridge parts.

The body materials, shapes, and exterior patterns further reduce vibration and resonance, resulting in truly unrivalled levels of detail and neutrality.
