What Is This Cable and What Does It Do?
The AC-14XL MkII is a three-prong AC power cable. One end plugs into your wall outlet (it uses a standard NEMA 5-15P plug — the same type found on virtually every household device in North America). The other end connects to your audio component using an IEC C13 connector, the rectangular three-pin inlet you'll find on most DACs, CD players, streamers, preamps, and other source-level gear.

What's Different About This One?
The original AC-14XL was built with PCOCC copper — a premium Japanese-made conductor. When that material was discontinued, Pangea Audio upgraded to something better: Cardas Grade One Copper, developed by George Cardas, founder of Cardas Audio and one of the most respected names in cable engineering.
Cardas Grade One Copper is mined in Arizona and processed at a New England facility using a slow-draw method with reduction annealing between each stage. Annealing is a heat-treatment process that relieves stress in the metal and removes impurities. The result is a copper conductor with extremely high purity and a fine, consistent crystal structure. George Cardas describes it as "the most amazing audio conductor I have ever experienced." That's a manufacturer claim worth taking seriously, given Cardas Audio's reputation in the industry — but as always, we present it as such.
The AC-14XL MkII combines this Cardas Grade One Copper with 99.99% purity OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper) and Litz wire. Litz wire is a construction technique in which individual strands are separately insulated and braided together in a specific pattern. This geometry is engineered to reduce a phenomenon called the skin effect, which can cause high-frequency current to concentrate near the conductor's surface rather than traveling through its full cross-section. The net 14 AWG gauge provides ample current capacity for source-level components.
Shielding is triple-layered, combining multiple barrier types to reject RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) and EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) — the airborne electrical noise generated by nearby electronics, lighting, and wireless devices. Pangea says the proprietary cable geometry further contributes to noise rejection at the conductor level.
