What It Does and Who It's For
Some audio and home theater components use a C5 power inlet — a small, rounded three-pin socket sometimes called a "cloverleaf" or "Mickey Mouse" connector. You'll find it on certain CD players, DVD and Blu-ray players, cable and satellite boxes, and some laptops.
The problem: most aftermarket power cables — including Pangea's own AC-14 and AC-14SE MkII — terminate in a standard IEC C13 plug. That's the rectangular three-prong connector that fits the vast majority of audio gear. It won't fit a C5 inlet directly.
This adapter solves that. One end accepts a standard IEC C13 cable. The other end plugs into your component's C5 inlet. That's the whole job, and it does it well.
C5 (this adapter fits): A small, rounded three-pin socket — two curved pins and one flat ground pin arranged in a triangular shape. Often described as a "cloverleaf" or "Mickey Mouse" connector. Common on CD and DVD players, cable boxes, and some laptops.
C7 (two-prong figure-8): Two oval holes, no ground pin. Looks like a sideways figure-8. If your component has this, you need a C7 cable, not a C5 adapter.
C13 (standard IEC): A larger rectangular three-hole socket. If your component has this, you can connect a Pangea power cable directly — no adapter needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a C5 and a standard IEC connector?
A standard IEC C13 connector is the rectangular three-prong plug found on the vast majority of audio components, computers, and other electronics. The C5 is a smaller, rounded three-prong connector — shaped a bit like a cloverleaf or Mickey Mouse ears — used on some smaller or older source components. They carry the same AC power but physically cannot plug into each other. This adapter bridges the gap.
Which Pangea power cables work with this adapter?
Any Pangea power cable that ends in a standard IEC C13 connector will work — including the AC-14 MkII, AC-14SE MkII, and AC-14XL MkII. If you are not sure which Pangea cable is right for your component, call us at 800-942-0220 and we'll help you put the right combination together.
Will this work with my laptop?
Some older laptops use a C5 power inlet, so physically it may fit. However, laptop power supplies are usually not designed for aftermarket IEC cables the way audio components are. This adapter is intended for use with audio and home theater gear. If you have questions about a specific laptop, give us a call before ordering.
What is the "Standard Model" — is there a better version?
[Verify with Pangea Audio whether a premium or Signature Edition version of this adapter exists and describe the differences here before publishing. If there is only one version, remove this question.]
