What You Need to Know
A Rack Named After the God of Forging
Pangea Audio named this rack the Vulcan for a reason. Vulcan is the Roman god of fire and metalwork. He was famous for forging strong things. This rack lives up to the name.
It's strong. It's steady. And it doesn't shake when you turn up the bass. That's a big deal when you've spent good money on speakers, amps, and a turntable.
The Vulcan is built to hold your gear safely for years. It also looks great in any room. You can pick from four finishes: Black, Carbon Fiber, Rosenut, and Espresso. Each one has its own vibe — modern, warm, or bold.
Build It in 15 Minutes — No Tools Needed
Here's the part folks love most. The Vulcan goes together in about 15 minutes. You don't need a screwdriver. You don't need a hammer. You just need your hands. We call this tool-less assembly.
The rack uses steel posts that twist together with threaded rods (long bolts hidden inside the posts). You hand-tighten each post, and that's it. The whole thing locks up tight and rigid.
Most build-it-yourself racks feel wobbly. Not this one. Pangea engineered the Vulcan to stay rock-solid even when fully loaded.
Grow Your Rack as Your System Grows
Got a turntable, a streamer, and an amp now? You might add a phono preamp or a tube DAC later. The Vulcan is ready for that. It's modular, which means you can add or remove shelves anytime.
You start with four shelves. You can grow up to six total. One Pangea owner said adding a shelf is "as easy as changing a light bulb." Just flip the rack upside down and pop a new shelf on the bottom.
You can also swap in taller posts for big amps, add a storage drawer for accessories, or pop on casters to roll the rack out for cable changes. Your rack grows with you.
Built to Hold Heavy Gear
Each shelf holds up to 75 pounds. The whole rack holds up to 300 pounds total. That's plenty of room for power amps, big receivers, vinyl spinners, and more.
The shelves are made of dense MDF (a thick, heavy wood-fiber board). They're wrapped in a tough vinyl that resists scratches, scuffs, and most spills. So if you drag a heavy amp across the shelf, it shrugs it off.
The four steel support posts wear a black "sand" powder coat. This finish fights scratches and stops the metal from ringing when sound hits it. Tap a post — you'll hear nothing. That's good for your music.
What Reviewers Are Saying
The Vulcan four-shelf rack has earned real praise from the audio press. Positive Feedback magazine gave it a Writer's Choice Award in 2017. Reviewer Steve Lefkowicz noted that affordable, solid racks were rare — and that Pangea filled that gap with a great product at a fair price.
Over at GadgetryTech in 2020, reviewer Joe called the build quality excellent. He praised how strong the rack is for the money and said the modular design "really sets the Vulcan rack apart." See more reviewer details below.
Who Is the Vulcan Best For?
You're building a stereo or home theater setup and need a sturdy, good-looking home for your gear.
You don't want to fight with tools or read a 30-page assembly guide. You want it built in minutes.
You plan to add gear over time and want a rack that grows with you (up to six shelves total).
You care about how things look and want a finish that matches your room — Black, Carbon Fiber, Rosenut, or Espresso.
You want a quality rack without spending hundreds more for a fancier brand.
How It Fits Into Your Room
The Vulcan stands 32 inches tall, 24 inches wide, and 18 inches deep. That's about the size of a small dresser. Most rooms have plenty of space for it.
It uses an open-air design, which means there are no side or back panels. Air flows through freely. That keeps your amps and receivers cool. It also makes it easy to reach the back of your gear when you swap cables.
The rack comes with cone-shaped feet and steel spikes. The spikes dig into carpet for a stable footing. On hardwood or tile floors, you'll want to add a set of small protective discs (more on those below).

Professional Reviews
Positive Feedback Magazine — Writer's Choice Award, 2017
Reviewer Steve Lefkowicz gave the four-shelf Vulcan a Writer's Choice Award in 2017. He praised Pangea for making solid, well-built racks at prices regular folks can afford. He even used two of them in his exhibit at the LA Audio Show, where they handled big, bass-heavy speakers without trouble. His verdict: a smart pick for anyone who wants serious quality without the high-end price tag.
GadgetryTech — September 2020
In his GadgetryTech YouTube and website review, reviewer Joe said the build quality is excellent and called the strength-to-price ratio "absolutely phenomenal" for an open-frame rack. He highlighted how the modular design lets you add shelves, swap posts, and bolt on drawers — features you don't usually find at this price. He noted that Pangea has built "an incredibly capable storage solution" priced fairly.
HIFI Trends — July 2020
HIFI Trends reviewed the Vulcan series and called it a real bargain. The reviewer praised the easy, no-tools setup and the rock-solid feel once built — "no shake whatsoever." He said the rack looks clean and modern, even next to fancier shelves with glass and chrome. His final word: highly recommended for anyone who wants quality and value.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I really not need any tools to put this together?
That's right — no tools needed. The Vulcan uses steel posts that twist together with threaded bolts inside each post. You hand-tighten everything. Most folks finish setup in about 15 minutes. If you can twist a doorknob, you can build this rack.
How heavy a component can I put on each shelf?
Each shelf holds up to 75 pounds. The whole rack holds up to 300 pounds total. That's enough room for big power amps, heavy receivers, and turntables. If your gear is heavier than that, give us a call at 800-942-0220 and we'll help you find the right rack.
Can I add more shelves later?
Yes. The Vulcan starts with four shelves and grows to six total. You buy add-on shelf kits separately. Each kit includes one shelf and four steel posts. Adding a shelf is quick — just flip the rack upside down and bolt the new shelf onto the bottom.
What if I have tall gear like a big tube amp?
You have options. You can leave one shelf out to make extra space. Or you can swap in taller 10-inch support posts (sold separately) for more breathing room. Just let us know what gear you're using and we'll point you to the right add-ons.
Will the spikes hurt my hardwood or tile floor?
The spikes are sharp and made for carpet. If you have hardwood, tile, or vinyl floors, you'll want a set of floor-protector discs. We recommend our Sonic Saucers Isolation Discs — brass discs that protect your floor and help reduce vibration.
How does the four-shelf compare to the three-shelf or five-shelf Vulcan?
It comes down to how much gear you have. The 3-shelf is great for small systems in a bedroom or office. The 4-shelf is the most popular size and fits most stereo setups. The 5-shelf gives you the most space and is taller (about 40 inches). Remember — you can always add shelves later.
Can I add a drawer for my remotes, cables, or vinyl brushes?
Yes. The Pangea Vulcan Duo 2-inch Storage Drawer slides in under any shelf. There's even a cable hole in the back so you can run a power cord through. It's the easiest way to keep small stuff tidy and close to your gear.
Does the rack come with a warranty?
Pangea backs the Vulcan with a manufacturer warranty. Audio Advisor also offers a 60-day money-back guarantee — if it's not right for you, send it back. Have questions about warranty terms? Call us at 800-942-0220 and we'll walk you through it.
Does the finish change how it sounds?
No. All four finishes — Black, Carbon Fiber, Rosenut, and Espresso — use the same MDF shelf core and the same vinyl wrap. The wrap is just for looks and protection. Pick whichever color matches your room or your gear best.
What if I want to roll the rack out to change cables?
Pangea makes a Roll On Caster kit that swaps the spikes for ball-shaped wheels. You can move the rack around without scratching your floor. Give us a call at 800-942-0220 if you'd like to add a caster set to your order.
