Feature-Packed Plug-and-Play Entry-Level Turntable
The E1 from Pro-Ject Audio Systems is the company's first E-series turntable, dedicated to delivering a great audio experience on a limited budget. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or an experienced vinyl fan. The E1 won't disappoint you. Handmade in Europe, it's designed to thrill.
The E1 boasts premium materials, stylish aesthetics, and a rich, lively sound. Its extensive development process has ensured that there has been no compromise in sonic performance despite its affordable price. And it's packed with must-have features for a convenient and pleasurable listening experience, including a factory-installed Audio-Technica AT3600L moving magnet (MM) phono cartridge.
"A Fine Entry-Level Turntable"
"Bottom line, this is a fine entry-level turntable for someone just getting into or returning to vinyl. It’s incredibly easy to set up, it plays records just fine, and it’s priced right.," notes Thom Moon, soundstageaccess.com, November 15, 2022.
"Pro-Ject has produced a unit that will get someone up and running and playing music that sounds bright and flavorful but doesn’t tire their ears on long sessions. It is worth every penny of its $399 list price and will serve the casual listener well for many years."
"A Gorgeous, Well-Built Turntable"
"Overall, the Pro-Ject E1 is a gorgeous, well-built turntable in the Austrian company’s sub-$500 entry-level range," notes Derek Malcolm, digitaltrends.com, October 12, 2022.
"After some coaxing, the Pro-Ject E1 pumped out a respectably dynamic sound that kept getting better the more records I spun."
Plug-and-Play for Everyone
The E1's plug-and-play design with pre-adjusted tracking force and anti-skating by experienced Pro-Ject technicians provides you the best settings for your turntable – sparing you lengthy set-up procedures. Just sit back and enjoy your favorite records without the installation hassles of far too many turntables. You'll be enjoying your favorite LPs and 45s within minutes of opening the box.
The new E1 is available in three different versions to fit everyone's needs. The series consists of the standard E1 model, the E1 Phono model with built-in phono preamp, and the E1 BT model with Bluetooth receiver and built-in phono preamp. All three models are equipped with an 33 rpm / 45 rpm electronic speed switch for no-hassle speed change, just by flipping a switch.
"A Fuss-Free Turntable That Sounds Good"
"The Pro-Ject E1 is well worth considering if you want a fuss-free turntable that sounds good and doesn't cost too much money. It lacks automation and fancy features such as Bluetooth, but crucially it sounds better than similarly priced rivals. It's gorgeous, too," observes Carrie Marshall, techradar.com, July 10, 2024. "Setting this turntable up is incredibly quick and simple."
High-Performance Features
The E1 includes high-performance features unequaled in most entry-level turntables – and beyond. The stylish CNC-machined composite fiber plinth, available in high gloss black, high gloss white, or walnut finish, is carefully manufactured to ensure maximum solidity without the hollow spaces inside which you might find on other manufacturer's turntables in this price range.
Even the E1's platter is new. The ABS polymer main platter is strengthened with purpose-designed ridges in order to create an ideal, anti-resonant platform for your vinyl. Topping the platter is an included felt mat.
Pro-Ject is known for its superior tonearms, and the E1 doesn't disappoint. The lightweight and low-friction 8.6" aluminum tonearm is a gem, and it is optimized to bring out the full potential of the included high quality Audio-Technica cartridge. The tonearm is also versatile and will accommodate a wide range of other cartridges should you decide to upgrade later down the road.
Keep your E1 looking new and performing at its best! To protect your turntable from airborne dust and dirt, Pro-Ject includes an elegant acrylic dustcover with adjustable hinges. That's a great bonus at anywhere near the E1's price, but it's standard excellence for Pro-Ject. Also included are 4-ft. phono cables and an adapter for playing 7" 45-rpm singles.
Includes Audio-Technica AT3600L Cartridge
A quality, time-tested Audio-Technica AT3600L moving magnet (MM) phono cartridge is pre-mounted and precision-aligned. It's a nice sounding moving magnet cartridge with a diamond stylus, and it works beautifully with the Pro-Ject E1 Phono's aluminum tonearm.
"A Good Buy? Absolutely."
"Is the Pro-Ject E1 a good buy? Absolutely," reports Marc Henshall, yoursoundmatters.com, August 8, 2023. "In the budget turntable category, Pro-Ject have years of experience knowing where they can reduce costs without destroying the sound quality, which after all, is what we’re all here for! If you’re just getting started with your vinyl hobby, you’re off to a solid start on a journey that can last a lifetime."
"Listening to the Black Keys’ 'Dropout Boogie,' which features a lot of their bluesy guitar, you get the band’s famous fuzz distortion resonating right through the floor without losing the soothing depth of Dan Auerbach’s smoky vocals," reports Michael Frank, coolhunting.com, June 22, 2022.
"That was just the beginning: the E1 pulls that essence from every record we tested, including some old Count Basie, Roxy Music, the Clash and an amazing 1979 live acoustic recording of Pete Townshend playing 'Don’t Get Fooled Again.'"
