What You Need to Know
What Is a Floorstanding Speaker?
A floorstanding speaker (also called a tower speaker) sits on the floor and stands tall in your room. It does not need a shelf or a stand. Because the cabinet is big, it can hold more drivers — the parts that make sound. More drivers means deeper bass, clearer mids, and more volume with less effort from your amp.
The Dynaudio Evoke 50 is the largest speaker in Dynaudio’s Evoke family. It is a three-way design. That means it has separate drivers for high notes (tweeter), mid notes (midrange), and low notes (two woofers). Each driver focuses on what it does best.
What Makes the Evoke 50 Special?
Dynaudio is a Danish company that has been making speakers since 1977. They design and build every driver by hand in their own factory in Skanderborg, Denmark. That is rare — most speaker brands buy their drivers from other companies.
The Evoke 50 borrows technology from Dynaudio’s top-of-the-line Confidence and Contour series. The tweeter is Dynaudio’s Cerotar design — a 28mm soft-dome tweeter with an inner dome called the Hexis. The Hexis sits just behind the main dome and smooths out the high-frequency response by controlling the air pressure behind it. The result is clean, sweet treble with lots of detail.
The midrange driver is a 15cm unit taken directly from the higher-end Contour range. It uses a neodymium magnet — a very strong, lightweight magnet that gives the driver fast, precise control. The cone is made from MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer), a material Dynaudio has used in their drivers for decades because it strikes the right balance of light weight, stiffness, and damping.
Bass comes from twin 18cm woofers, also made from MSP. These use copper voice coils and Ferrite+ ceramic magnets. Two woofers share the work, so they can move more air and handle more power than a single driver could.
Dynaudio includes foam port plugs with each speaker. The rear-firing bass port has three tuning options: fully open, half-open, or fully closed. This lets you adjust the bass to fit your room. If your speakers sit close to a wall, you can reduce the bass so it stays tight and clean.
What Are Reviewers Saying?
Who Is This Best For?
You want a full-range speaker that fills a medium to large room without a subwoofer.
You listen to a wide range of music — from classical to rock to jazz — and want a speaker that handles it all.
You value natural, honest sound over flashy or hyped presentation.
You want a speaker that looks elegant in your living room — not just your listening room.
You are building a two-channel stereo system or a multichannel home cinema setup.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
The Evoke 50 connects with a single pair of gold-plated binding posts on the back of each speaker. These accept bare wire (up to 10AWG), banana plugs, or spade connectors.
You will need an amplifier or receiver to drive these speakers. The Evoke 50 has a sensitivity of 87 dB and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms (minimum 3 ohms at 100 Hz). A good quality integrated amp or receiver rated for 4-ohm loads will work well. Dynaudio designs the impedance curve to be easier to drive than the spec might suggest, so most mid-range and up amps will be comfortable.
Keep in mind, these are passive speakers — they do not have a built-in amp. You need a separate amp to power them. If you need help choosing one, give us a call at 800-942-0220.

What the Experts Are Saying
Blackmore spent extensive time with the Evoke 50 and found its soundstage depth to rival dipole and panel speakers at higher price points. He praised the taut, powerful bass with excellent pitch definition, natural instrument timbre, and an engaging overall presentation. He concluded the Evoke 50 is a rare combination of great sound and fair price.
What Hi-Fi? awarded the Evoke 50 five out of five stars when testing it as part of a 5.1 system. They highlighted the speaker’s rhythmic tautness across the frequency range, its agile bass, and its detailed yet robust character. They called it a great place to start for anyone looking to bring a proper cinema feel home.
LowBeats rated the Evoke 50 “Outstanding” and praised its bass for being both rich and precise — not the exaggerated, boomy bass often found at this price. They noted excellent spatial imaging and a warm yet detailed sound character. Cabinet quality was called well above average.

Features & Specifications
Cerotar Tweeter with Hexis Inner Dome
The 28mm soft-dome tweeter uses Dynaudio’s Cerotar design, borrowed from their flagship Confidence series. Behind the main dome sits the Hexis — an inner dome that controls air pressure and stops unwanted resonances. You get smooth, clean highs with lots of fine detail.
Dedicated Contour-Derived Midrange
The Evoke 50 is the only speaker in the Evoke family with its own midrange driver. This 15cm unit comes straight from Dynaudio’s higher-end Contour range. It uses a neodymium magnet — a strong, light magnet that gives the driver fast, accurate response. Vocals and instruments sound natural and present.
Twin MSP Woofers for Deep, Controlled Bass
Two 18cm woofers share the low-frequency work. They are made from MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) — Dynaudio’s own cone material that balances light weight, stiffness, and damping. Copper voice coils handle high power. The result is bass that goes deep (down to 35 Hz) while staying tight and controlled.
Adjustable Bass Port with Foam Plugs
The rear-firing bass port comes with two-part foam plugs. Use them to tune bass for your room: fully open for maximum bass, half-open for a slight reduction, or fully closed for a tighter, sealed sound. This is helpful if your speakers sit close to a wall.
Elegant Danish Design
Designed by Louise Dalgaard and her team at Dynaudio, the Evoke 50 has a slim, tapered cabinet with gently curved front edges and no visible mounting screws. The cabinet is narrower at the back than the front, which reduces standing waves inside. Available in four finishes: Black High Gloss, White High Gloss, Walnut Wood, and Blonde Wood.
100% Made in Denmark
Every driver in the Evoke 50 is designed and built in Dynaudio’s own factory in Skanderborg, Denmark. Cabinets are crafted at their dedicated cabinet facility in Vejle. This level of in-house manufacturing is rare and ensures tight quality control from start to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of amp do I need for the Evoke 50?
You need an amplifier or receiver that is comfortable driving a 4-ohm speaker. A quality integrated amp with 50 watts or more per channel will work well. Dynaudio designs the impedance curve to be smoother than the spec suggests, so most mid-range amps will handle them just fine. If you are not sure, give us a call and we will help you choose.
Do I need a subwoofer with the Evoke 50?
For most music listening, no. The Evoke 50 reaches down to 35 Hz, which covers the vast majority of musical content. For home theater with deep movie bass effects, or if you really love deep sub-bass in electronic music, adding a subwoofer can help. But most listeners find the Evoke 50’s bass is plenty on its own.
How far from the wall should I place them?
Dynaudio suggests pulling the speakers at least 20–50 cm (8–20 inches) from the rear wall. If you must place them closer, use the included foam port plugs to reduce bass buildup. The half-open setting is a good starting point for near-wall placement.
How does the Evoke 50 compare to the Evoke 30?
The Evoke 50 is the larger model. It has a dedicated midrange driver (the Evoke 30 does not) and twin woofers instead of two combined midrange/bass drivers. This gives the Evoke 50 deeper bass, more output, and better driver separation. The Evoke 30 is a great choice for smaller rooms. The Evoke 50 shines in medium to large spaces.
Are the speakers sold as a pair or individually?
Pricing and availability may vary. Check the product listing for current details. You will need two speakers for a stereo pair.
Can I use these for home theater?
Yes. The Evoke 50 works as front left/right speakers in a surround sound system. Dynaudio makes matching center (Evoke 25C) and bookshelf (Evoke 10) speakers for the rest of your channels.
What finishes are available?
The Evoke 50 comes in four finishes: Black High Gloss, White High Gloss, Walnut Wood, and Blonde Wood. The gloss finishes use a special lacquering technique for a deep, glass-like look. The wood finishes use real open-pore veneers.
Do they come with grilles?
The Evoke 50 does not ship with removable grilles. The drivers are flush-mounted with no visible screws, giving the speaker a clean look without a grille. A tweeter protection cover is included for use during shipping or storage.
How long does break-in take?
Dynaudio speakers improve with use. Most listeners report the sound opening up after a couple weeks of regular playing. They will sound good right away but will get even better with time.
What else do I need to get started?
You need an amplifier (integrated amp or receiver), a source (streamer, turntable, or CD player), and speaker cables. If you want help building a complete system, call us at 800-942-0220. We love helping with this.
