What You Need to Know
What Is the DMP-A6 Gen 2?
The DMP-A6 Gen 2 is a network streamer and DAC — two jobs in one compact box. As a streamer, it connects to your home network and plays music from Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and more. As a DAC, it converts that digital audio into sound your amp can use.
It's compact — about the size of a shoebox — and fits neatly on a desktop, a shelf, or in a rack. The bright 6-inch touchscreen on the front puts everything at your fingertips.
The original DMP-A6 was a massive hit. This Gen 2 version keeps everything people loved and makes meaningful improvements — at the exact same price.
What's New in Gen 2?
EverSolo listened to their customers and upgraded what mattered most.
Quieter power supply. The Gen 2 gets a linear power supply — a type known for producing very low noise. The original used a switching supply. This change alone can make the music sound cleaner and more natural.
HDMI ARC input. ARC stands for Audio Return Channel. If your TV has an HDMI ARC port, you can now send your TV's audio directly to the DMP-A6 Gen 2. That means movies and streaming video through your hi-fi system — no extra cables or boxes needed.
Better volume control. The new EVC Output Engine improves how the unit handles volume changes. It keeps the audio signal clean and complete at every level — so soft and loud sound equally good.
USB-B input. The USB input has moved from USB-C (laptop-style) to USB-B — the type found on most hi-fi and studio gear. A small change, but the right one for audiophile use.
12V trigger output. This lets the DMP-A6 Gen 2 automatically switch your power amp on and off. Turn on the streamer and your amp wakes up too — no reaching behind the rack.
Wake-on-LAN. Want to start listening without leaving the couch? The app can now wake the DMP-A6 Gen 2 over your network. Your music is ready before you even get up.
The DAC — Dual ESS ES9038Q2M
Inside the DMP-A6 Gen 2 are two ESS ES9038Q2M DAC chips — one dedicated to each stereo channel. Running a chip per channel cuts interference between left and right. The result is better channel separation, a lower noise floor, and a wider, cleaner sound.
The circuit is fully balanced from the DAC chips to the outputs. This helps reject noise that can creep in from outside the unit.
Measured performance is strong. The dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio both hit 128dB. Total distortion (THD+N) is –120dB — 0.00009%. These are real-world results, not just marketing numbers.
Streaming — Everything, Built Right In
The DMP-A6 Gen 2 connects directly to your home network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. No computer or separate streaming device needed.
Built-in services include Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, Radio Paradise, HighResAudio, TuneIn, IDAGIO, SoundCloud, Calm Radio, and Presto Music. More are added via regular firmware updates.
Roon Ready, Tidal Connect, and DLNA are all supported. The free EverSolo Control App for iOS and Android mirrors everything on the touchscreen — so you can browse and control from the sofa.
EverSolo's EOS audio engine bypasses Android's built-in audio limits. This lets the app deliver audio at its true, full resolution — not a compressed version of it.
A Great App — and a Great Screen
The 6-inch touchscreen is bright, sharp, and fast. It shows album art, track info, VU meter displays, and all settings. Swiping and tapping feel like using a modern smartphone — no lag, no frustration.
The EverSolo Control App is consistently praised by reviewers as one of the best in the category. It's clean, logical, and does more than most rival apps — without feeling complicated.
You can also cross-search across all your streaming services at once. No more switching between apps to find what you want.
What Are Reviewers Saying?
AVForums called the DMP-A6 Gen 2 their Best Buy after a full review. They praised its "incredibly comprehensive user experience at a hyper competitive price" and called it "nigh on unbeatable" as a source component. Their verdict: EverSolo "has taken its fabulous opening effort and gone and made it better still."
Son-Vidéo.com reviewed the DMP-A6 Gen 2 at launch and called it a smart choice for audiophiles. They praised the HDMI ARC addition and the upgraded power supply. Who Is This Best For?
You want a great streamer and DAC in one box — without spending a lot.
You use Roon. The DMP-A6 Gen 2 is fully Roon Ready — connect it and it just works.
You want to connect your TV. The HDMI ARC input lets your TV's audio play through your hi-fi system.
You already have a good DAC. The DMP-A6 Gen 2 also works as a pure streaming transport, feeding your existing DAC via USB, coaxial, or optical.
You want local storage for your music library. Install an M.2 SSD (not included, up to 4TB) and store everything on board.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Network inputs: Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 and dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz + 5GHz). Bluetooth 5.0 also lets phones and tablets connect wirelessly.
Digital inputs: USB-B (from a computer or USB audio device), coaxial, optical (Toslink), and HDMI ARC. Each one is electrically isolated — noise from your source device stays out of the path the sound takes.
Digital outputs: USB-A, coaxial, optical, and HDMI (for multichannel audio to a receiver or TV). Use the digital outputs to feed a separate DAC, or to pass multichannel DSD to a compatible receiver.
Analog outputs: XLR balanced and RCA single-ended — both available at the same time. Connect directly to an integrated amp or a power amp. Note: there are no analog inputs on the DMP-A6 Gen 2. If you need to connect a turntable or other analog source, take a look at the DMP-A8.
Trigger output: 12V. Lets the DMP-A6 Gen 2 power your amplifier on and off in sync with itself.

Features & Specifications
Linear Power Supply — Quieter, Cleaner Power
The biggest upgrade from Gen 1 is the power supply. The Gen 2 uses a linear supply — a quieter type that produces less electrical noise than the switching supply used in the original. Noise levels are kept below 40µV. Less noise in the power means less noise in the music.
Dual ESS ES9038Q2M DACs — One Chip Per Channel
Two ESS ES9038Q2M DAC chips do the conversion work — one for the left channel, one for the right. Running them separately cuts crosstalk (bleed between channels) and keeps each side of the sound clean and independent. The circuit is fully balanced from chip to output.
EVC Output Engine — Better Volume at Every Level
The EVC Output Engine is EverSolo's own volume system. It corrects small errors that can creep in when you adjust volume digitally. The result is a cleaner, more accurate signal at all levels — loud, soft, or anywhere in between.
6-Inch Touchscreen — Fast, Bright, and Easy to Use
The large color touchscreen fills most of the front panel. It shows album art, track details, VU meter displays, and spectrums. Response is fast — reviewers compared it to a modern smartphone. Brightness is adjustable, and it reads clearly even in a bright room.
Roon Ready — Certified
The DMP-A6 Gen 2 is officially Roon Ready. It works as a Roon endpoint right out of the box. Control playback from Roon on your tablet, laptop, or phone with no extra setup needed.
HDMI ARC Input — Your TV Through Your Hi-Fi
Connect your TV's HDMI ARC output to the DMP-A6 Gen 2 and your TV's audio plays through your hi-fi system. Movies, streaming video, gaming — all of it, through proper speakers. This is a new addition in Gen 2 and one of its most useful features.
HDMI Multichannel Output
The HDMI output carries multichannel audio — including native DSD — to a compatible AV receiver or TV. This opens up surround sound use for those who want it, while keeping full stereo hi-fi performance for everyday listening.
Internal SSD Storage — Up to 4TB
An M.2 NVMe SSD slot sits on the underside of the unit. No tools needed — installation takes a minute. Add a drive (sold separately, up to 4TB) and the DMP-A6 Gen 2 becomes your personal music server. Connect a USB CD drive and it rips your discs directly to the SSD.
10-Band EQ and Digital Filters
A 10-band graphic equalizer lets you shape the sound to your taste. Seven digital filter options give you further control over how the DAC handles high-frequency information. Both are accessible from the touchscreen or app.
Room Correction (via Firmware)
EverSolo added digital room correction (EDRC) to the DMP-A6 Gen 2 via a firmware update. This analyzes how your room affects the sound and applies EQ to compensate. A compatible measurement microphone is needed (not included — check EverSolo's compatibility list).
SMB Sharing and Network Storage
The DMP-A6 Gen 2 connects to NAS drives and shared network folders via SMB, NFS, WebDAV, UPnP, and DLNA. It also works with OneDrive, Dropbox, Emby, and Plex. Your whole music library — wherever it lives — is available in one place.
Wake-on-LAN
Wake the DMP-A6 Gen 2 from sleep using the EverSolo app — no need to press a button. Combine this with the 12V trigger output and your whole system can power up from your phone. Requires a wired Ethernet connection.
CNC-Machined Aluminum Chassis
The Gen 2 body is machined from aerospace-grade aluminum — an upgrade from the anodized aluminum of the original. The result is a stronger, denser shell that blocks more outside interference. The brushed, matte finish looks clean and feels solid in hand.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the Gen 2 and the original DMP-A6?
The Gen 2 costs the same ($859) but adds a linear power supply, an HDMI ARC input, a 12V trigger output, Wake-on-LAN, the EVC volume engine, and a USB-B input (replacing the USB-C of the original). The chassis has also been upgraded to aerospace-grade aluminum.
Everything that made the original great — the streaming, the DAC chips, the screen, the app — is still here. The Gen 2 just does it all with less noise and more features.
What's the difference between the DMP-A6 Gen 2 and the Master Edition Gen 2?
Both units are the same size and do the same jobs. The Master Edition ($1,099) adds upgraded Accusilicon femtosecond clocks and better OPA1612 op-amps (vs. OPA1642 in the standard). The standard Gen 2 is the better value if you want the core streaming and DAC performance without the clock upgrades.
Do I need anything else to use the DMP-A6 Gen 2?
You'll need an amplifier or powered speakers. Connect the DMP-A6 Gen 2's XLR or RCA outputs to your amp, plug in Ethernet or Wi-Fi, and you're ready to play. No computer required for streaming. For local music, you can add an M.2 SSD (sold separately).
Does it work as a pure streaming transport without using its DAC?
Yes. Use the USB-A, coaxial, or optical digital outputs to feed a separate DAC. The DMP-A6 Gen 2 sends the digital audio to your external DAC and does nothing else. Many users who own a high-end external DAC do exactly this.
Is the DMP-A6 Gen 2 Roon Ready?
Yes — it is officially Roon Ready. Set it up as a Roon endpoint and control everything from the Roon app on a tablet or laptop. No extra configuration needed.
Can I connect my TV to the DMP-A6 Gen 2?
Yes. The HDMI ARC input lets you connect your TV's HDMI ARC output directly. TV audio — movies, video streaming, gaming — plays through your hi-fi system. This is one of the most useful new features in Gen 2.
Does the DMP-A6 Gen 2 have analog inputs for a turntable?
No — the DMP-A6 Gen 2 accepts digital sources only. There are no analog inputs. If you need to connect a turntable or other analog source, look at the DMP-A8, which includes XLR and RCA analog inputs. Give us a call at 800-942-0220 and we'll help you choose the right model.
Is a remote control included?
No. The DMP-A6 Gen 2 does not include a remote. You control it from the touchscreen or the free EverSolo Control App on your phone or tablet. EverSolo's Bluetooth remote is available as a separate purchase if you'd prefer a physical control.
How does the DMP-A6 Gen 2 compare to the DMP-A8?
The DMP-A8 ($1,980) adds several things the A6 Gen 2 doesn't have: analog inputs (XLR and RCA), an R2R hardware volume control, more connectivity options (including I2S output), and a larger chassis. If you want to connect analog sources or need the most complete preamp setup, the A8 is the step up. The Gen 2 is the stronger value if streaming and DAC duties are all you need.
Can I install a drive for local music storage?
Yes. An M.2 NVMe SSD slot sits on the underside of the unit — no screwdriver needed. Install a drive (up to 4TB, M.2 NVMe 3.0, 2280 format, sold separately) and you can store your full music library inside the unit. Connect a USB CD drive to rip your CDs directly to it.
