What You Need to Know
What Is the EverSolo Play?
The Play is EverSolo's first all-in-one streaming amplifier. It combines five things that normally live in separate boxes: a network streamer, a hi-res DAC, a stereo power amplifier, a phono stage for turntables, and a full suite of EQ and room correction tools.
Connect it to your home network and a pair of speakers. That's it. Your music — from every streaming service, from a turntable, from a TV, from a NAS drive — plays through one small, square box.
It won the EISA Best Value Streaming Amplifier 2025–2026 award. EISA is one of the most respected independent audio award bodies in the world. For a first product in this category, that's a significant achievement.
Who Is This For?
The Play is designed for a specific type of listener. You want great streaming and a big feature set. You want a clean, simple setup with fewer cables and boxes. And you want to spend $699 — not $1,500 or more.
It's at its best in small to medium-sized rooms, with bookshelf speakers, standmounts, or sensitive floorstanders. Its 60W per channel handles most speakers confidently at real-world listening volumes.
It's also an excellent choice if you want to use it as a streaming transport feeding a separate DAC. The USB digital output supports DSD512 and PCM 768kHz — so your existing DAC can do the conversion while the Play handles everything else.
The Design — Square, Compact, and Built Well
The Play is a perfect 9-inch square and 3.25 inches tall. The compact square format is popular in this product category right now — and EverSolo executes it cleanly. The body is CNC-machined aluminum alloy with a glass fascia on the front.
Weight is 3kg (6.6 lbs). Heatsink fins run along the underside to keep the electronics cool. In testing, StereoNET noted it stays only "moderately warm" even after extended listening sessions — there's no fan and no noise.
The front panel has a 5.5-inch color touchscreen and an illuminated volume knob with an RGB light ring that glows in any color you choose. The screen can display album art, VU meters, or a streaming service grid — your choice.
Streaming — Everything, Built In
Connect via Gigabit Ethernet or dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz + 5GHz). The antennas are internal — no antenna sticking out the back. Roon Ready is certified. Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, and DLNA are all supported. AirPlay is also included.
Built-in apps cover Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer, Apple Music, HighResAudio, SoundCloud, TuneIn, KKBOX, Radio Paradise, and more. The streaming platform supports 32-bit/768kHz PCM and native DSD512 via the EverSolo EOS audio engine.
There's also a fun feature called Listen at Will — it plays genuinely random selections from all your logged-in services and connected libraries. Music discovery by surprise.
The DAC — AKM AK4493SEQ
The DAC is an AKM AK4493SEQ — from AKM's Velvetsound range. Velvetsound DACs are known for a smooth, musical tonal character. The AK4493SEQ decodes up to 32-bit/768kHz PCM and native DSD512. Signal-to-noise ratio is above 109dB and distortion is below 0.0037%.
The Amplifier — 60W Class D
The built-in Class D amplifier uses a Texas Instruments power module. It delivers 60W per channel into 8Ω and 110W per channel into 4Ω. The power supply uses PFC-LLC technology for energy efficiency, and includes both inrush current and overheat protection.
StereoNET's Eric Teh summed it up well: this is "a friendly music maker for smallish rooms and/or moderate volume levels — a role that it performs very well." The Play is not designed to drive a large room at concert levels. For that kind of use, the DMP-A8 paired with the AMP-F10 is the better path.
Built-In Phono Stage — A First for EverSolo
The Play is the first EverSolo product to include a phono stage. It supports both MM (moving magnet) and MC (moving coil) cartridges. Connect a turntable directly — no separate phono preamp needed.
The MC input is set to 74dB gain with 0.5mV sensitivity. These settings are fixed — there are no adjustable loading options for the MC stage. For casual to moderate vinyl use this works well. Serious audiophile turntable setups with high-output MC cartridges or custom loading needs may prefer a dedicated phono stage. Call us at 800-942-0220 and we can help you assess the match.
Room Correction and EQ
Room correction is built in and fully automated. Run a sweep tone from the unit, and the Play analyzes the response, then generates FIR filters to compensate for your room's acoustics. It takes a few minutes and requires a compatible measurement microphone (not included — check EverSolo's compatibility list).
On top of room correction, you also get a 15-band graphic EQ, a 10-band parametric EQ with independent left/right adjustment, and 23 genre presets covering EDM, blues, classical, jazz, and more. Smart bass management handles the subwoofer output crossover — adjustable from 40Hz to 500Hz.
What Are Reviewers Saying?
StereoNET's Eric Teh gave the Play their Applause Award. He called it "a winner," praising its looks, ease of use, and musical sound. His verdict: for its price and purpose — a friendly music maker for smaller rooms — it is "close to perfect in my books."
Steve Huff called the Play "a bonafide affordable audio product for 2025 that is excellent" — quiet, well-made, and delivering "sound quality better than its price would dictate." He rated it above similarly priced offerings from Marantz and Bluesound, calling it the best in its budget category.
Headfonia praised the Play's streaming platform as comprehensive — covering every major service without gaps. They highlighted the AKM AK4493SEQ DAC, the phono stage, and the EverSolo app as standouts. Their overall impression: Eversolo has "always convinced us with their wonderful software and sound."
What the Play Is — and What It Isn't
The Play is a remarkable all-in-one product for its price. But it's worth being honest about its place in the lineup.
It does not have an internal SSD slot — local music storage means connecting an external USB drive. It has no XLR balanced outputs. It has no analog preamp outputs for connecting an external power amp — the speaker outputs are it. And the phono stage is good but basic; no adjustable MC loading.
If you need those things — especially preamp outputs or internal storage — the DMP-A6 Gen 2 or DMP-A8 are the right next steps. But within its mission — one box, just add speakers — the Play does an excellent job.

What the Pros Are Saying
StereoNET awarded the Play their Applause Award after a full review. Eric Teh praised its ease of setup, musical sound, and generous feature count. He called it "close to perfect" for its price and mission — a friendly, easy-to-use music system for smaller rooms and everyday listening.
Steve Huff reviewed the Play and called it "excellent" — quiet, handsome, and musically satisfying above its price. He said he preferred it over similarly priced options from Marantz and Bluesound. His conclusion: it is "the best in the budget realm" as of his May 2025 writing date.
Headfonia found the Play a capable and well-rounded all-in-one. They praised the breadth of its streaming service support, the quality of the AKM DAC, and the EverSolo app experience. Overall verdict: "Eversolo has always convinced us with their wonderful software and sound."

Features & Specifications
Everything in One Box
The Play combines five components into a single 9-inch square unit: a network streamer, an AKM hi-res DAC, a 60W Class D stereo amplifier, a phono stage for turntables, and a full EQ and room correction system. For $699, that's an exceptional concentration of capability.
AKM AK4493SEQ DAC — Smooth and Musical
The AKM AK4493SEQ is from AKM's premium Velvetsound range, known for a warm, musical presentation. It decodes up to 32-bit/768kHz PCM and native DSD512. SNR is above 109dB and distortion below 0.0037%. The USB digital output sends full-resolution audio to a connected external DAC if you prefer.
60W Class D Amplifier
The Texas Instruments Class D module delivers 60W per channel at 8Ω and 110W at 4Ω. The power supply uses PFC-LLC technology for efficiency, with built-in inrush current and overheat protection. Cooling is passive via heatsink fins on the underside — no fan, completely silent.
Built-In Phono Stage — MM and MC
This is the first EverSolo product with a phono stage. MM cartridges are supported at standard sensitivity. MC cartridges are supported with 74dB gain and 0.5mV sensitivity — fixed, with no adjustable loading. A ground terminal is provided. Connect most turntables directly with no extra hardware.
HDMI ARC Input
Connect your TV's HDMI ARC output to the Play and your TV's audio plays through your speakers. Movies, streaming video, gaming — all of it, through your hi-fi system in the living room, with no extra boxes or audio converters needed.
Room Correction — Automated
The Play runs automated room correction using FIR filters. Play a sweep tone, measure with a compatible microphone, and the Play generates a correction curve based on your room. It compensates for peaks and dips caused by room acoustics — making the speaker placement you have sound more accurate.
15-Band EQ + 10-Band Parametric EQ + 23 Genre Presets
Two levels of equalizer are built in. The graphic EQ gives 15 bands of quick adjustment. The parametric EQ gives 10 bands of precision control, with independent settings per channel. Twenty-three genre presets (EDM, blues, classical, jazz, and more) let you get a starting point instantly.
Smart Bass Management and Subwoofer Output
A dedicated mono subwoofer output handles low frequencies. The crossover frequency is adjustable from 40Hz to 500Hz. Smart bass management coordinates the bass output between your main speakers and the sub — so the two work together cleanly rather than doubling up on the same frequencies.
USB Digital Output — for Your External DAC
The USB-A output sends a digital audio stream to a connected external DAC — up to DSD512 native and PCM 768kHz/32-bit. If you own a great DAC already, the Play can act as its source. This makes the Play a capable streaming transport as well as an integrated system.
Listen at Will
This is one of EverSolo's more playful features. Listen at Will draws random tracks from all your logged-in services and connected libraries — playing music you might never have chosen yourself. It's a music discovery tool. Turn it on, sit back, and see what shows up.
5.5-Inch Touchscreen — Browsable, Not Just a Status Display
The 5.5-inch screen isn't just for playback status. You can browse your streaming services directly on it — scrolling through Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and more without touching your phone. The EverSolo Control App mirrors the screen on your phone and supports full remote control.
Compact and Well Finished
At 230 × 230 × 83mm (9" × 9" × 3.25"), the Play fits on a desk, a shelf, or beside a TV. The unibody aluminum chassis has a glass fascia and feels solid. An RGB LED ring around the volume knob glows in any color you choose — or can be switched off.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Play have a remote control?
A remote is not included. You control the Play via the 5.5-inch touchscreen on the front or the free EverSolo Control App on your iOS or Android phone or tablet. The app mirrors the touchscreen and allows full remote control from anywhere in the room.
Can I connect a turntable directly to the Play?
Yes — the built-in phono stage supports both MM and MC cartridges. MM works at standard sensitivity. The MC input is fixed at 74dB gain and 0.5mV sensitivity, with no adjustable loading. For most cartridges this works fine. If you use a high-output MC or need custom loading settings, a dedicated phono preamp will serve you better. Call us at 800-942-0220 and we can help you choose.
Can I use the Play with a subwoofer?
Yes. There's a dedicated mono subwoofer output on the rear panel. The crossover frequency is adjustable from 40Hz to 500Hz. Smart bass management coordinates the output between the sub and your main speakers so they work together cleanly.
Does the Play have preamp outputs for a separate power amplifier?
No — there are no analog preamp outputs. The speaker terminals are the only way to connect passive speakers. If you want to drive a separate power amplifier from the Play's signal, you can use the digital outputs (USB or coaxial) into an external DAC with preamp outputs. If you need a proper preamp out, the DMP-A6 Gen 2 or DMP-A8 are the right models. Call us at 800-942-0220 and we'll help you think through your options.
Does the Play have an internal SSD slot for music storage?
No — unlike the DMP series streamers, the Play has no internal M.2 SSD slot. For local music storage, connect an external USB 3.0 hard drive or SSD to either USB 3.0 port. The Play sees it immediately and can browse and play from it.
Is the Play Roon Ready?
Yes — officially Roon Ready. Set it up as a Roon endpoint and control playback from Roon on any tablet or laptop. It also supports Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, and Spotify Connect for streaming direct to the unit without Roon.
How is the Play different from the EverSolo DMP-A6 Gen 2?
They serve different needs. The DMP-A6 Gen 2 ($859) is a streaming DAC with no built-in amplifier — it connects to a separate amp. The Play ($699) is an all-in-one with a built-in 60W amp, phono stage, and subwoofer output. The Gen 2 has XLR balanced outputs, an internal SSD slot, and a more audiophile-focused output stage. The Play is the simpler, more complete single-box solution. Call us to talk through which fits your system.
What speakers work best with the Play?
The Play works best with bookshelf speakers, standmounts, and sensitive floorstanders in small to medium-sized rooms. It delivers 60W at 8Ω and 110W at 4Ω — enough for most home listening. Very inefficient or demanding speakers in large rooms may need more power. Call us at 800-942-0220 and we can suggest speaker pairings.
Is there also a CD Edition?
Yes — the Play CD Edition ($799) adds a built-in CD-ROM drive. This lets you play CDs directly, and rip them to an attached USB drive. The standard Play ($699, this listing) does not include the CD drive but is otherwise identical. See the CD Edition listing separately on our site.
How does room correction work?
The Play runs an automated sweep and analyzes the response through a compatible measurement microphone (not included — check EverSolo's compatibility list). It then generates FIR correction filters and applies them in DSP. The correction takes a few minutes and measurably improves frequency accuracy for your specific room and speaker placement.
