Analysis Plus Black Mesh Oval 9 Speaker Cable - 12 Foot - Spade to Spade - Single
What It Does in Your System
Built by the People Other Cable Companies Hired
Analysis Plus started out in Flushing, Michigan doing testing work for cable brands you'd know by name. After studying the field from the inside, they decided they could build something better. The hollow oval conductor is what came out of that work.
Oval 9 has been their best seller for years. Black Mesh is the current version, with better connectors and a new dielectric — the insulation around the wire — that responds faster to the signal.
Thick Copper Keeps a Long Run Honest
Every foot of speaker cable adds a little resistance between your amplifier and your woofer. That resistance is what loosens the amp's grip on the driver. It's why long runs of thin wire sound soft and vague down low.
Oval 9 is a thick 9-gauge cable, so twelve feet costs you very little. Your amplifier keeps control of the woofer and the bass stays tight.
An Oval Shape, Woven and Finished by Hand
Analysis Plus ran extensive computer models before settling on a hollow oval shape. In a round wire, current crowds toward the outside as the pitch gets higher, and that uneven flow can make a cable sound tonally lopsided. The oval spreads current far more evenly.
Instead of one solid wire, which can kink over a long run, they weave many strands into a braid. That braid can't be machine-terminated, so each cable gets more than an hour of handwork before it ships.
Is This Right for You?
A few things to check before you order:
- This is one cable, not a pair. A stereo system needs two. Buy a single when one speaker sits farther from the amp than the other, or when you're replacing just one side. Otherwise order two.
- Replacing one side of an older pair? Check which version you have. Black Mesh is the current build, with different connectors and insulation than the original Oval 9. It works fine next to an older cable, but the two won't match exactly.
- Plan the route before you order. Twelve feet goes fast once the cable runs along a baseboard, around a doorway, and up behind a speaker. Measure the real path and add a little margin. These are finished by hand, so you can't trim them later.
Setup & Installation
Slide each spade under a binding post nut and tighten it down by hand until the spade sits flat against the post. Watch your polarity: red to positive, black to negative, matching whatever you did on the other channel. Both ends are the same, so it doesn't matter which one goes to the amplifier.
Measure the path the cable will actually travel, not the straight line across the room. Leave a little slack so its weight doesn't pull on the connectors. This is a stiff cable, and a sharp bend right at a spade puts real stress on it. Cross power cords at right angles where you can, and coil any extra in a wide loose loop instead of a tight bundle.
Features & Specifications
9-Gauge Oxygen-Free Copper
Thick copper keeps resistance low over a long run, so your amp holds its grip on the woofer.
Patented Hollow Oval Geometry
The oval shape keeps resistance steady across the whole audio range, so current spreads evenly and tone stays balanced.
Woven Braided Conductor
Every strand sits about the same distance from the return current, and the braid resists the kinks that ruin solid wire.
Upgraded Dielectric and Connectors
Black Mesh adds faster insulation and better connectors than the original Oval 9, with over an hour of handwork per cable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I get one cable or two?
One. This listing is a single 12-foot cable. That's what you want for an uneven layout or a one-side replacement. For a full stereo system, order two.
Can I use different lengths on each channel?
You can, and that's why singles exist. But matching lengths on both sides keeps the two channels electrically identical. If one speaker is only a little closer, buy matched cables and coil the extra behind it.
Will twelve feet hurt the sound?
Very little at this gauge. Long runs cause trouble when the wire is thin enough that resistance robs the amp of control. Nine gauge gives you plenty of margin, which is exactly why thick cable exists.
