Analysis Plus Silver APEX Speaker Cable - 12 Foot - Banana to Spade - Pair
What It Does in Your System
Three Hollow Ovals, One Inside the Next
Silver Apex is the most advanced cable Analysis Plus makes. Their other designs use one hollow oval conductor. This one nests three, each sitting inside the hollow core of the next, the way sections of a telescope fit together.
This is a matched 12-foot pair with a banana at one end and a spade at the other. Twelve feet is the longest standard length they offer. The mixed ends suit systems where your amp and your speakers take different connectors.
A Double Shield, Which Almost No Speaker Cable Has
Most speaker cables have no shielding at all. The thinking is that speaker signals are strong enough not to need it. The nested build here gives you two layers of shielding instead.
Analysis Plus makes an unusual claim for the result: the noise floor drops so low you can hear your amplifier breathe. In practice that means quiet detail stops being buried. Reviewers describe the sound as powerful and bracing, yet relaxed rather than aggressive.
Silver Over Copper, Which This Length Puts to Work
Silver has a reputation for a bright, edgy top end. Older silver cables earned it. Analysis Plus builds around the problem by using pure silver over a copper core. The copper gives the hollow shape the strength it needs to hold form. The silver sits on the outside, where high frequencies actually travel.
Three 9-gauge conductors keep resistance low — that's how much the cable fights the signal. Over twelve feet that matters, because resistance is what steals your amplifier's grip on the woofer. The oval shape keeps resistance low at the frequency extremes too, which is where a cable normally starts to roll off its top end.
Is This Right for You?
A few things to check before you order:
- Check which end goes where. This cable has a banana at one end and a spade at the other. Make sure each of your components takes the connector it will get. Some recessed binding posts won't let a spade tighten down properly.
- Measure your real path. At twelve feet you're routing around furniture or along baseboards. Walk the route with a tape measure and add a little slack for dressing the cable at each end.
- Your system can show you the difference. Silver Apex sits at the top of the Analysis Plus range. If the cable isn't the weak link in your system, Big Silver Oval or Black Mesh Oval 9 will serve you well for much less.
Setup & Installation
The banana end pushes straight in and holds by spring pressure. No tools needed. For the spade end, loosen the binding post, slide the spade over it, and tighten firmly by hand. It should be snug enough that the spade can't turn. Match positive to positive and negative to negative at both ends, and wire both channels the same way.
Check your polarity before you tuck the cable into place. Tracing a reversed channel later means pulling the whole run. This is a heavy cable because of the nested build, so give it wide curves rather than tight corners. Support its weight where it leaves each component instead of letting it hang on the connectors.
Features & Specifications
Nested Triple Hollow Oval Geometry
Three conductors sit one inside the next, in the most advanced version of the patented Analysis Plus design.
Double-Shielded Construction
Two layers of shielding give this cable a far lower noise floor than most speaker cables, which have none.
Pure Silver Over Oxygen-Free Copper
Silver sits where high frequencies travel, on a copper core that holds the hollow shape in place.
Three 9 AWG Conductors
Thick copper keeps resistance low over a long run, so your amplifier holds its grip on the bass.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a pair or a single cable?
This is a matched pair. You get two 12-foot cables, one for each speaker. That's everything you need to wire a stereo system.
Why would I want different connectors on each end?
Because equipment doesn't always agree. Many amplifiers have shrouded posts that only take a banana. Speaker terminals often hold a spade more securely. A mixed cable lets each end use whatever fits best.
How does Silver Apex differ from Big Silver Oval?
Both use silver over an oxygen-free copper core. Big Silver Oval is a single 9-gauge hollow oval conductor. Silver Apex nests three of them and adds double shielding. It's a more complex build aimed at the lowest possible noise floor. Big Silver Oval is an excellent cable, and Silver Apex is the more ambitious one.
