Analysis Plus Super Sub Oval Is a Hand-Built, In-Wall-Rated Subwoofer Cable
Super Sub Oval is a premium, hand-built subwoofer cable from Analysis Plus, available with RCA plugs or as a balanced XLR cable. It is designed for maximum low-frequency transmission and ultra-quiet performance, and its UL CL3 and CSA FT4 rating makes it suitable for in-wall use.
Other length & termination options are available. Call us to discuss your needs.
Maximum Low-Frequency Transmission
Analysis Plus designed Super Sub for maximum low-frequency transmission and ultra-quiet performance. Its patented hollow oval geometry prevents current bunching and frequency effects that can muddy low bass.
Rated for In-Wall Use
The UL CL3 and CSA FT4 rating makes Super Sub suitable for in-wall use. Analysis Plus hand-builds every cable.
Who Is This Subwoofer Cable Best For?
- You are running a subwoofer cable inside a wall — the UL CL3 and CSA FT4 rating covers in-wall runs
- You want a quiet, powerful bass connection — the shielded, hollow oval design is built for ultra-quiet performance
- You want highly musical bass — Analysis Plus calls this the cable to buy for highly musical bass that makes movie soundtracks and music come alive
- Your electronics have an XLR subwoofer output — choose the XLR version; its balanced design matches it end to end
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Connect one end to the subwoofer output of your receiver, preamp or processor, and the other to the line-level input on your subwoofer. With RCA plugs, push each plug straight on until it seats, and pull it off by the barrel, never by the cable. With XLR plugs, line up the pins and push until the latch clicks; press the latch to release the plug. Then play something with deep bass and set your subwoofer's level to taste.
Does Your System Use XLR for the Subwoofer?
Electronics with an XLR subwoofer output include the Marantz AV10, Anthem AVM models, Denon AVR-AH1 and AVC-AH1, Trinnov processors, the McIntosh MX123 and the Parasound Halo P6, among others. Subwoofers with an XLR input include JL Audio Fathom models, REL Reference models, the Perlisten D212 and D215, the SVS SB17-Ultra, the Dynaudio Sub 6 and the Paradigm Signature SUB 2, among others.
Before ordering an XLR cable, check your subwoofer's manual for the manufacturer's recommendation. If the manufacturer says an RCA cable will perform just as well, save the extra cost and buy a good RCA subwoofer cable.
Measure the Path, Then Add a Little Slack
Measure the route the cable will really take from your electronics to your subwoofer, around furniture and along the baseboard. Then add a little slack. As audio legend George Cardas puts it, "A cable that's just long enough usually turns out to be just not long enough."
A Long Run to the Subwoofer?
Subwoofers often sit far from the electronics. If yours does, we recommend a long interconnect rather than a long speaker cable. A really long interconnect affects system performance less than a really long speaker cable.
When Is It Time to Upgrade?
A subwoofer cable often stays in a system for years, so it is easy to overlook. Look again when something else changes: a new subwoofer, a new receiver or preamp, or a move to a bigger room.
Pairs Well With
A subwoofer cable joins your electronics to your subwoofer. These are the categories on either end of it.
- Subwoofers — the other end of the cable
- Preamplifiers — a source of subwoofer output in a stereo system
- Home Theater Receivers — the usual place the subwoofer output lives
