Featuring Solid 1.25% Silver Conductors

AudioQuest Boxer is a high-performance, low-distortion subwoofer cable that will add some serious bite to any home-entertainment system's bark. It has Solid 1.25% Silver Conductors, Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation, Carbon-Based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation System (NDS), and Cold-Welded, Hanging-Silver Directly Over 20.0m Pure Red Copper RCA Plugs.

What does all this mean? When your woofer and AudioQuest's get together for a night at the movies (or the symphony), you’ll hear all the power and thunder your sub can deliver with unsurpassed extension, “speed” and clarity.

The Silver Subwoofer Advantage

Boxer has Solid 1.25% Silver Conductors. While silver-plated copper conductors are sonically disastrous for full-range analog cables (such as speaker cables, or interconnects), their attributes are perfectly suited for high-speed digital applications and limited-bandwidth applications such as subwoofer cables. In subwoofer cables the apparent emphasis of low-frequency transients is most engaging, offering much of the performance of solid 100% silver conductors at a much more affordable price.

Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation

Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. All of Sydney’s conductors use PE Air-Tube Insulation because air absorbs next to no energy, and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. PE Air-Tube Insulation causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.

Carbon-Based Three-Layer Noise-Dissipation System (NDS)

A 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF Interference from modulating the equipment’s ground reference requires AQ’s Noise-Dissipation System. Metal and Carbon-Loaded synthetics prevent most RFI from reaching the equipment’s ground plane.

Double-Balanced Geometry

Purpose designed for single-ended applications, Double-Balanced Asymmetrical Geometry offers a relatively lower impedance on the ground for a richer, and more dynamic experience. While many single-ended cable designs use a single path for both the ground and the shield, Double-Balanced designs separate the two for cleaner, quieter performance.

Cold-Weld System

Making the perfect connection between conductor and connector is not a simple process. There are three accepted ways to make the connection between a cable and its termination. Solder is by far the most common method of connection. Resistance welding is clearly superior to even the best solder. However, just as solder introduces an inferior layer of differing material, causing distortion and reflections, so does welding. The alloy created at the interface of cable and plug is far superior to solder, but it is still an undesirable intermediary layer. After so much attention to the quality of the conductor and connector, the contact system deserves just as much consideration.

AudioQuest's Cold-Weld System solves this problem with a superior connection that insures that the structural integrity of the conductor is kept completely intact. The Cold-Weld System refers to a combination of high pressure at the point of contact and the use of silver impregnated paste.

Pure Red Copper RCA Plugs are used for their low distortion.
