AudioQuest Fog Lifters - Set of 8
What It Does in Your System
Getting Your Cables Off the Floor, and the Floor Out of Your Cables
Fog Lifters are cable supports that hold your speaker cables, interconnects, and power cords a few inches above the floor. That's the whole job — but the reason behind it is more interesting than it first appears.
A carpet, a wood floor, a concrete slab: none of these seems like a source of interference. But RF energy is all around us and always seeking a lower energy state, and it couples capacitively into your cables through any solid material they rest on. Lifting the cable interrupts that path.
A Few Inches Matters More Than You'd Think
AudioQuest's argument turns on how quickly coupling falls off with distance. Like light from a bulb, the effect drops exponentially rather than gradually — so a small amount of separation accomplishes a disproportionate amount of the work.
What you'll hear is a lower noise floor. Quieter backgrounds mean low-level detail that was previously masked becomes audible, and the active circuits fed by those cables have less garbage to contend with.
Low Mass, Minimal Contact — Because the Support Can Be the Problem
This is where Fog Lifters differ from ordinary cable risers. Heavy stands and clamps made of substantial material solve one coupling problem and introduce another: the riser itself becomes a mass in contact with your cable and a source of RF noise in its own right.
Fog Lifters are deliberately low-mass with a minimal contact surface, placing as little solid material against the cable as the job allows. Even a well-shielded cable benefits — shielding doesn't fully block ambient interference from Wi-Fi and cellular sources, and what Fog Lifters improve is the cable's relationship to ground.
Is This Right for You?
A few things worth knowing before ordering:
- Your cables currently run along the floor. That's the situation Fog Lifters address. If your speaker cables and power cords are already routed through a rack or along a wall without floor contact, there's less here for you.
- Eight supports covers a typical stereo run. Think roughly four per speaker cable on a moderate run, or a mix across speaker cables and power cords. Long runs or a full multichannel system may want a second set.
- This is a subtle, cumulative improvement, not a component upgrade. We'd rather be straight with you: this is a system tweak, and its effect depends on your room, your cabling, and how resolving your system is. Our 60-day guarantee exists precisely so you can find out in your own room.
Setup & Installation
Position the supports along each cable run at even intervals, close enough that the cable rides clear of the floor between them without sagging back down to touch. Speaker cables and AC power cords benefit most, since they're the ones typically running across open floor. Interconnects between components qualify too if they drop behind a rack and land on the carpet.
Each support measures 5.6 inches square at the base and 6.25 inches tall, so plan for a visible footprint alongside your cable runs. While you're at it, take the opportunity to separate signal cables from power cords where they'd otherwise cross or run parallel — that's free improvement on top of what the lifters themselves do.
Features & Specifications
Reduces Capacitive RF Coupling From the Floor
Elevating cables interrupts the path by which radio-frequency noise couples into them through carpet, wood, stone, and concrete.
Minimal Contact Surface
The design places an absolute minimum of solid material in direct contact with the cable.
Low-Mass Construction
Unlike heavy risers and clamps that become RF noise sources themselves, Fog Lifters add as little mass to the equation as possible.
Works With Signal and Power Cables
Suitable for speaker cables, interconnects, and AC power cords alike.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many do I need?
It depends on your run lengths and how many cables you're lifting. A set of eight typically handles a stereo pair of speaker cables at reasonable intervals. If you're also lifting power cords, or your speakers are far from the amplifier, consider two sets.
Do these help if my cables are already shielded?
AudioQuest's position is yes. Shielding reduces interference but doesn't fully block high-frequency energy from Wi-Fi, cellular, and similar sources, and what changes when you lift the cable is its capacitive relationship to the floor — something shielding doesn't address.
Why not use any cable riser, or make my own?
You certainly can, and plenty of people do. AudioQuest's specific argument is that mass matters: a substantial riser or clamp in contact with your cable can become a noise source itself, which is why Fog Lifters are designed to be low-mass with minimal contact area. Whether that distinction is audible in your system is exactly the sort of thing worth trying with the guarantee in place.
