A Current Reservoir for the Moments That Matter Most
The AudioQuest PowerQuest 707 tops AudioQuest's power lineup. It adds something the 303 and 505 don't have: Transient Power Correction.
The four High-Current outlets draw on a current reservoir of more than 45 amps, for up to 25 milliseconds. That's ready the instant your amplifier hits a sudden dynamic peak.
It's the same non-sacrificial surge protection as the rest of the line, rated for repeated 6000V and 3000A surges. It also has the same Extreme Voltage Shutdown. That opens the main relay in under a quarter second at 140VAC.
The 707 won the iEar HiFi Award for Best Accessory on November 17, 2024. Twelve outlets split the load. Four Upgraded High-Current outlets carry that Transient Power Correction, and eight Ultra-Linear Filtered outlets serve source components.
Filtering That Reaches Lower Than Its Siblings
Like the 505, the 707 uses Ultra-Linear Noise-Dissipation. It cuts more than −22dB of noise, with common-mode filtering from 30kHz to 100MHz.
Its differential-mode filtering starts lower, though. It covers 8kHz to 1GHz instead of 30kHz to 1GHz. That means it catches noise further down into the audible range before it reaches your gear.
The included 2-meter PQ-715 cable carries AudioQuest's ZERO-Tech and RF/ND-Tech. It's the same cable bundled with the 505.
Semi-solid, direction-controlled Long-Grain Copper conductors carry the current, rated for 15 amps at 120V. A 45-degree, flat-to-wall plug and 2U rack ears let the 707 sit close behind a rack, or mount straight into one.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Felix reviewed the PowerQuest 707 for Headfonia on October 18, 2024. He wrote that it "sharpens imaging qualities by darkening the background of your chain noticeably."
He added that "the entire frequency board has better resolution with the PowerQuest," and that "string plucks sound more precise."
Jaap Veenstra reviewed the 707 alongside its siblings for Alpha Audio on March 9, 2024. Stepping up from the 505, he wrote that "we hear another step in calmness and authority."
On whether the extra cost is worth it, his answer was direct: "you alone can determine that."
Who Is This Power Conditioner Best For?
- Owners of a high-power amplifier with big dynamic swings. Transient Power Correction gives it a reservoir of current for the loudest peaks.
- Anyone who's maxed out what the 505 offers. Wider differential-mode filtering reaches further down into the audible range.
- Listeners assembling a reference-level system. The 707 is AudioQuest's flagship power conditioner, built to match higher-end amps and sources.
- Anyone who wants recognized, award-winning gear. The 707 won the iEar HiFi Award for Best Accessory in 2024.
- Not the right fit if the 505 already covers your needs. Transient Power Correction mainly benefits amps that draw large current bursts.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
The included PQ-715 cable runs from the 707 to your wall outlet. It's rated for 15 amps at 120V. Plug your amplifier or powered speakers into one of the four Upgraded High-Current outlets to draw on the Transient Power Correction reservoir.
Route sources like a DAC, streamer, or preamp into the eight Ultra-Linear Filtered outlets. The 45-degree plug and 2U rack ears let it sit flush behind a rack, or mount directly into a rack frame.
Pairs Well With
Building your system? Here are some great companions for the AudioQuest PowerQuest 707:
- Power cables if you want to move beyond the included PQ-715
- Integrated amplifiers to draw on the Transient Power Correction reservoir
- Interconnect cables to finish out a quieter, cleaner-running system
- Audio racks sized for 2U rack-mounting the 707 directly
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Transient Power Correction actually do?
It gives the four High-Current outlets a reservoir of more than 45 amps for up to 25 milliseconds, so a sudden dynamic peak in the music doesn't run into a current bottleneck.
How is the 707 different from the 505?
Both share Ultra-Linear filtering and the same included cable. The 707 adds Transient Power Correction. It also extends differential-mode filtering down to 8kHz instead of 30kHz.
Did the 707 win any awards?
Yes. It won the iEar HiFi Award for Best Accessory on November 17, 2024.
Can it be rack-mounted?
Yes. It ships with 2U rack ears included, so it drops into a standard rack without extra hardware.
What's the warranty?
AudioQuest covers the PowerQuest 707 for five years against defects in materials and workmanship.
