Yosemite Adds AudioQuest's Dielectric-Bias System to Bridges & Falls
AudioQuest's Yosemite sits second from the top of the Bridges & Falls series. It carries both channels in one jacket and runs solid copper inside FEP air tubes. It adds the 72-volt Dielectric-Bias System from AudioQuest's upper ranges, and the plugs are silver over pure Red Copper.
Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ in FEP Air-Tubes
The wires are solid Perfect-Surface Copper+, AudioQuest's highest grade of copper. The positive wire runs inside an FEP Air-Tube, so the metal barely touches its insulation. AudioQuest gives the negative wire a lossy insulation on purpose, saying the two legs do different jobs.
The 72-Volt Dielectric-Bias System
Every insulator stores a little signal energy and gives it back late. AudioQuest says this shifts timing by different amounts at different frequencies. The DBS pack holds a steady 72 volts across the insulation so it behaves the same at every level. An RF Trap keeps radio noise out. The system is patented.
Around the cable is a three-layer shield with a carbon layer. AudioQuest calls it Carbon-Based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation. An ordinary shield drains radio noise into the ground, and AudioQuest says that dirties the reference the signal is measured against. The carbon layers soak up the noise first.
The Direct-Silver Plated Red Copper Plug, Explained
Yosemite ends in a Direct-Silver Plated plug. The body is pure Red Copper, AudioQuest's purest grade. The silver goes straight onto the copper with no nickel underneath, and AudioQuest says nickel causes distortion. The plug is cold welded to the wire. There is no solder in the path.
The layout is AudioQuest's Asymmetrical Double-Balanced Geometry, built for RCA use. The ground and the shield are kept apart. The ground path gets a lower impedance than the signal path, which AudioQuest says makes for a richer, quieter sound.
What Reviewers Are Saying
We have not found a published review of the RCA Yosemite. Christiaan Punter reviewed the mini-jack version for HiFi-Advice on December 18, 2015 and found its bass more powerful than the Angel above it.
Stereophile’s Recommended Components for 2026 lists the Yosemite tonearm cable, a different product with the same name. We will add a review when one is published.
Who Is This Interconnect Best For?
- You want the DBS pack at a Bridges & Falls price — Yosemite is the least costly AudioQuest cable we sell with one, so the upper-range idea arrives here
- You listen for weight — HiFi-Advice heard more powerful bass than the silver Angel, so low notes carry
- Space behind the rack is tight — one slim cable carries both channels, so it bends where a pair will not
- You want silver over pure copper — the plugs are Direct-Silver over Red Copper with no nickel, so the contact is clean
- Your left and right jacks sit far apart — both channels share one jacket here. For mono amps or a wide rack, choose the AudioQuest Black Beauty pair instead. Or call us
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Run Yosemite from a line-level output, a DAC, streamer, CD player or phono stage, to a line-level input on your amplifier or preamp. Keep left to left and right to right. Push each plug straight on until it seats. Pull it off by the barrel, never by the cable. Leave the DBS pack attached; it needs no switch.
Then listen. Other and longer lengths available. Call for prices.
Pairs Well With
An interconnect is one link in the chain. It usually joins these categories.
- Integrated Amplifiers — the usual input end
- Digital-to-Analog Converters — DAC output to amplifier
- Music Streamers — streamer output to amplifier
- Speaker Cables — the last link to the speakers
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the DBS pack on the cable?
AudioQuest's 72-volt Dielectric-Bias System. A small battery pack holds a steady voltage across the insulation. AudioQuest says this makes the insulation behave the same at every level. An RF Trap keeps the pack from feeding radio noise into the wire.
What is Direct-Silver plating?
Silver plated straight onto the copper plug body. There is no nickel layer underneath. AudioQuest says nickel causes distortion, so it leaves it out.
Is this one cable or two?
One. AudioQuest's Bridges & Falls cables carry both channels inside a single jacket. There are two plugs at each end and one lead to route behind the rack.
Do I have to replace the DBS battery?
Rarely. The pack sits outside the signal path and draws almost nothing. Press the test button; if the light does not glow, call us and we will help.
What warranty does AudioQuest give?
A limited lifetime warranty to the original owner, for cables bought from an authorized US dealer. AudioQuest will repair or replace a defective cable that has not been abused. Keep your proof of purchase.
Is there a step up?
AudioQuest Black Beauty is the next rung. It brings AudioQuest's ZERO-Tech and Level 6 noise dissipation from the Mythical Creatures range.
