The AudioShield Runwell Cover — Engineered Around One Turntable
A tabletop acrylic dust cover made for the Shinola Runwell, and for nothing else. Where the rest of AudioShield's range covers a family of VPI decks, this one was engineered to fit a single turntable — which is why it has features the others do not.
The Runwell is an unusual object: a heavy, watch-brand turntable meant to be looked at. A cover for it has to protect the deck without hiding it, and has to come off often enough that handling matters.
What Makes This One Different
Cutouts and Hand Holds
There are cutouts in the back of the cover for the power cable and the interconnects, so the cover sits down properly with the turntable wired rather than propped up on its own cabling. That is a specific solution to a specific deck.
There are also hand holds on each side. On a cover you lift on and off every listening session, somewhere to actually grip is the difference between a clean lift and a fingerprinted panel — or a dropped one.
Tabletop, Not Hinged
It stands on the shelf around the turntable rather than attaching to it. Nothing is bolted to the Runwell, nothing adds mass to the plinth, and a knock on the cover travels into the furniture instead of the arm.
Dimensions and Fit
What Has to Fit
The cover measures 20 by 15 by 8.5 inches. Because it rests on the surface, the footprint has to suit your shelf and the height has to clear the tonearm at its highest point.
AudioShield builds it in the United States and warrants it against defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days from the date of purchase from the original retailer. The turntable is not included, which their own listing is careful to say.
Who Is the Runwell Cover Best For?
- You own a Shinola Runwell — this cover was engineered for that turntable specifically
- Your turntable is on display — the Runwell usually is, and clear acrylic keeps it visible
- You want the cables to stay put — the rear cutouts let the cover seat with everything connected
- You lift the cover often — hand holds on both sides are there for exactly that
- You own a VPI — the Scout, Classic and Prime families have their own covers, listed in dustcovers
How Do You Use It?
Feed the cables through the rear cutouts as you lower it, then let it settle onto the shelf. Lift it by the hand holds rather than the panels — that is what keeps acrylic clear and unmarked over the years you will own it.
Pairs Well With
What most Runwell owners keep alongside.
- Record brushes — a pass before each side, whatever the cover does
- Stylus cleaning — for the dust that reaches the stylus anyway
- Phono cartridges — what a cover is ultimately protecting
- Record mats — mat thickness affects the clearance under a cover
Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my turntable?
It is engineered for the Shinola Runwell. It is not a general-purpose cover and will not suit another deck.
Can I leave my cables connected?
Yes — there are cutouts in the back for power and interconnect cables, so the cover seats properly with the turntable wired up.
How much room does it need?
20 by 15 by 8.5 inches. It stands on the shelf, so measure the surface around the turntable rather than the turntable itself.
Where is it made?
In the United States, like the rest of the AudioShield range.
What warranty does it carry?
Ninety days against defects in materials and workmanship, from the date of purchase from the original retailer.
