Every Aurender Idea in One Statement Piece
Aurender makes caching servers, streamers, CD rippers, DACs, and headphone amplifiers. The A30 is what happens when the company puts all of it in one 37.5-pound flagship: rip your discs, store your library, stream your services, convert with a dual-mono DAC, and drive your headphones, all from a single machined chassis with an 8.8" widescreen display.
Conversion runs through two AKM AK4497 DACs in dual-mono configuration with a full MQA decoder on board, playing hi-res PCM to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512. An FPGA-based precision clock holds jitter under 100 femtoseconds. A 10TB internal hard drive stores the library, and Aurender's caching engine copies music to a 480GB solid-state cache before playback, isolating the signal from drive and network noise.
The slot-loading drive rips CDs to bit-perfect WAV, FLAC, or AIFF files with automatic metadata, and pairs with a Nimbie autoloader to rip up to 100 discs unattended. Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, and internet radio stream through the Conductor app.
Five Power Supplies and a Real Headphone Amp
The A30's linear power supply is really five: separate transformer windings for the CPU, each DAC channel, the headphone amplifier, and the clock, plus a super-capacitor UPS for safe shutdowns. That obsessive isolation is why the A30 sounds silent between notes.
The front panel carries a genuine headphone station: 4-pin XLR balanced, 4.4mm balanced, and 6.35mm unbalanced outputs fed by their own power supply. Around back, XLR and RCA outputs with lossless variable volume can drive a power amp directly, a dedicated USB audio output feeds an external DAC if you ever want one, and two optical plus two coaxial inputs let other sources borrow that dual-mono conversion.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Eric Neff of hi-fi+, in a December 21, 2020 review, praised how "the A30 presented the title track with clarity and definition," concluding: "The fact that the A30 offers this level of performance in four key device areas makes this a solid bargain."
What Hi-Fi?, in an August 11, 2022 review, called it "a Swiss Army knife of music playback devices that sounds wonderful and is dead-easy to operate," while noting the A30 lacks a native backup routine, so keep master copies of your files.
Who Is This Server Best For?
- You want the complete Aurender — server, streamer, ripper, dual-mono DAC, and headphone amp in one box.
- You own a large CD collection — 10TB of storage and autoloader support digitize it all, bit-perfect.
- You listen on serious headphones — balanced XLR and 4.4mm outputs run from a dedicated power supply.
- You want the simplest reference system — variable outputs drive a power amp directly, no preamp needed.
- If you'll never rip CDs or use headphones, you're paying for hardware you won't touch — Aurender's A15 delivers the one-box experience for less.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Connect the XLR or RCA outputs to your amplifier, or use the lossless volume control to feed a power amp directly. Join your network over Ethernet and manage everything from the Conductor app, with the A30 Manager app for ripping and metadata. Feed it your CDs through the front slot, plug headphones into any of three jacks, and connect a transport or TV to the digital inputs.
One box, one app, and every format your collection holds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the A30 include a DAC?
Yes, dual AKM AK4497 chips in dual-mono configuration with a full MQA decoder, playing PCM to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512.
How does CD ripping work?
Slide a disc into the front slot for a bit-perfect rip to WAV, FLAC, or AIFF with automatic metadata; a Nimbie autoloader rips up to 100 discs unattended.
How much music can it store?
A 10TB internal hard drive stores your library, with two USB 3.0 ports for external drives.
What headphone outputs does it have?
Balanced 4-pin XLR and 4.4mm outputs plus a 6.35mm unbalanced jack, fed by a dedicated power supply.
What streaming services does it support?
Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, and internet radio through the Aurender Conductor app.
Can it drive a power amp directly?
Yes. The XLR and RCA outputs offer lossless variable volume, so no separate preamp is needed.
