A Transport Built to Do One Job Properly

The Aurender N200 sends music to your converter and does nothing else to it. There is no amplifier inside and no conversion, which is the point. Everything in the case is there to get a clean digital signal out of the network and into the DAC you already chose.

Inside is a low-power Intel quad-core processor, chosen because it runs cool and quiet rather than fast, with more system memory than the model it replaced. A full linear power supply feeds the processor and the output circuitry.

Why the Cache Matters

Aurender plays from a solid-state cache rather than straight off a spinning drive or the network. The file is read ahead and served from memory, so nothing in the playback path has to wait on a disk or a router. There are no fans and no drive noise.

Storage You Fit Yourself, or None at All

Two user-accessible trays take hard drives or SSDs, so you pick the type and the size. If you stream everything and keep nothing locally, leave them empty and the N200 still works exactly as intended. Few servers give you that choice.

The Outputs, and the Network

Digital output is on Audio Class 2.0 USB and on coaxial. The Gigabit ethernet port is twice isolated, which keeps network noise out of the audio side. A super-capacitor supply shuts the unit down safely if the power fails mid-play.

A 6.9-inch color display on the front shows artwork and track information from across the room, and it is Roon Ready. Everything else is run from Aurender's Conductor app on an iPad, an iPhone or an Android tablet.

If you want a local library, fit one or two drives into the trays on the unit. If you stream only, leave them out. Either way the cache handles playback, so the drives are never in the audio path.
