Two Bryston Classics, One Chassis
The Bryston Bi200 combines the preamp section of the well-regarded BP-19 with the power amp section of the 3B Cubed. Both live in a single chassis. It's a fully balanced design, from input to output.
It's hand-built in Canada and convection cooled, so there's no fan noise competing with your music. The faceplate comes in silver or black, in a 17-inch or 19-inch width, with custom colors available. You can also add a factory-installed phono module if you want vinyl built in.
Power output is rated at 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and 300 watts per channel into 4 ohms. That's enough headroom for most speakers.
Total harmonic distortion stays at or below 0.005% at rated power. A damping factor above 500 at 20Hz gives the amp tight control over woofer motion, for tighter, better-defined bass.
A Headphone Amp Bryston Is Proud Of
Built into the same chassis is what Bryston calls its most powerful onboard headphone amplifier yet. Bryston calls its low-impedance design Low-Z. It drives even inefficient headphones cleanly, and skips the current limits that hold back many integrated amps' headphone jacks.
The rest of the numbers are just as serious. Signal-to-noise measures −110dBr on the preamp section, on both balanced and single-ended outputs.
Frequency response holds within ±0.1dB from 20Hz to 20kHz through the power stage. It holds within ±0.05dB through the preamp alone.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Philip Beaudette reviewed the Bi200 for SoundStage! Hi-Fi on May 1, 2025. He wrote that "with its vanishingly low distortion and impossibly low noise floor, the Bi-200 presented recordings in their true colors."
He closed by calling it "a Canadian-made, high-performing integrated amplifier that costs well under $10K and carries a 20-year warranty." He said it's "great value and easy to recommend."
Ed Selley reviewed the Bi200 for AVForums on October 18, 2025, awarding it 9/10 and a Best Buy badge. "If your front end and speakers are devices you love, what you have here is a big metal box that allows them to communicate their qualities directly," he wrote. His verdict: "a masterpiece of the breed and an easy Best Buy."
Who Is This Amplifier Best For?
- Listeners who want a preamp and power amp without the extra box. The Bi200 folds Bryston's separate BP-19 and 3B Cubed design into one chassis.
- Anyone who plans to own this amp for decades. Bryston's 20-year warranty on the analog circuitry is one of the longest around.
- Headphone listeners who also run speakers. The built-in Low-Z headphone amp is a real feature here, not an afterthought.
- Vinyl listeners who want phono built in. A factory-installed MM/MC phono module, or a moving-coil transformer module with selectable gain, can be added at the time of purchase.
- Not the right fit if you need streaming or a DAC built in. The Bi200 is purely analog, so a separate streamer or DAC handles digital sources.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Inputs cover two pairs of balanced XLR and four pairs of unbalanced RCA. That's enough for a DAC, a CD player, and more all at once.
If you add the optional phono module at the factory, one RCA pair becomes a dedicated turntable input. It's wired for moving magnet or moving coil cartridges, depending on which module you choose.
The included BR-4 remote handles volume, mute, power, and input switching from your chair. Speaker binding posts on the back accept standard connectors.
The front-panel headphone jack gives you a private listening option without disturbing anyone else.
Pairs Well With
Building your system? Here are some great companions for the Bryston Bi200:
- Floorstanding speakers to make full use of the amp's power reserves
- Digital-to-analog converters for streaming and computer audio sources
- Headphones to take advantage of the built-in headphone amp
- Interconnect cables in balanced XLR or single-ended RCA
- Audio racks to give it a permanent, well-ventilated home
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add a phono stage later, or does it need to be factory-installed?
It's a factory-installed option. Decide at the time of purchase whether you want the standard MM/MC module or the moving-coil transformer version with selectable gain.
Does the Bi200 have a DAC for streaming?
No. It's a purely analog preamp and power amp. You'll want a separate DAC or streamer for digital sources.
How powerful is the headphone amp?
Bryston calls it the most powerful onboard headphone amp it has built. Its low-impedance Low-Z design drives even hard-to-power headphones cleanly.
What's covered under the 20-year warranty?
Bryston's 20-year warranty covers the analog circuitry. It's one of the longest terms any amplifier maker offers.
What faceplate options are available?
Standard silver or black faceplates come in 17-inch or 19-inch widths. Custom colors are also available.
