Two Bryston Classics, One Chassis
The Bryston Bi-200 is two of the company's own designs in one box. The BP-19 preamp and the 3B power amp share a single chassis and a single mains inlet. You save the cost of a pair of interconnects, and you save a shelf.
The signal path stays balanced from input to output. The amp section is dual mono, so the left and right channels run apart the whole way. Power is 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and 300 watts into 4 ohms. That drives most speakers you would put in front of it.
This version adds Bryston's moving magnet phono board, with 41dB of gain at 1kHz. Your turntable plugs straight in. Six analog sources fit in total: four on RCA, two on XLR. Headphones use the jack on the front.
Built in Canada, and Measured There Too
Bryston builds and tests every Bi-200 at its own plant in Ontario. The case is machined aluminum, and cooling is by convection alone, so no fan hum reaches the music. A soft-start circuit brings it up gently, without tripping a breaker. It weighs 37 pounds.
The bench numbers back up the quiet. Distortion plus noise stays under 0.005% at full power into 8 ohms, and signal-to-noise sits below -108dBr. Frequency response holds within a tenth of a decibel from 20Hz to 20kHz. Damping factor is over 500.
Volume is an analog circuit under digital control, so the music itself is never converted. A BR-4 remote comes in the box. RS232, Ethernet and USB let a control system read the amp and set it. Bryston covers the Bi-200 for ten years.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Philip Beaudette reviewed the Bi-200 for SoundStage! Hi-Fi in May 2025. With its "vanishingly low distortion and impossibly low noise floor," he wrote, the amplifier "presented recordings in their true colors."
Ed Selley, writing for The Ear, found the same restraint. The Bi-200 will "expose the energy in the recording rather than add its own," he wrote, and the longer he used it, "the more utterly confidence inspiring it becomes."
Who Is This Integrated Amplifier Best For?
- You want two respected Bryston designs in one box — the BP-19 preamp and the 3B power amp, so you buy one chassis instead of two and skip a pair of interconnects.
- You play records — the moving magnet stage is already fitted, so there is no extra box on the rack and no extra cable in the signal path.
- You listen late through headphones — the front jack drives models that other amps leave sounding thin, so one amplifier covers both speakers and cans.
- You want gear that gets repaired, not replaced — hand-built in Ontario and covered for ten years, so a fault means a phone call rather than a write-off.
- The Bi-200 is an analog amplifier and stops there — it has no digital inputs, so a streamer, computer or CD transport needs a converter ahead of it. Pick one from our DACs.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Speakers go to the binding posts and your turntable to the phono input. Five more analog sources fill the remaining RCA and XLR inputs, and headphones plug into the front panel. A pair of preamp outputs, on RCA and XLR, can run fixed or variable if you ever add a subwoofer or a second amplifier.
Set the volume once, and let 200 watts per channel do the rest.
