Bryston PS-3 DC Regulated Power Supply

The Bryston PS-3 is a dedicated, single-output DC power supply designed to help compatible Bryston components perform at their best. Moving the power-supply circuitry outside a sensitive phono stage, preamplifier or digital player helps isolate the audio electronics from transformer fields, AC-line contamination and power-supply noise. The result is a cleaner electrical environment in which low-level musical information can emerge with greater clarity.

Inside the PS-3, a fully analog linear design combines a toroidal transformer with extensive filtering and precise voltage regulation. It accepts AC power from the wall and delivers smooth, stable DC power through its dedicated output. An all-steel chassis provides additional shielding from environmental electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference, while the cool-running, convection-cooled design operates without a fan.

The compact one-third-width enclosure is a natural cosmetic and dimensional match for Bryston’s BP-2 phono preamplifiers. It can also power select products such as the BP-26 preamplifier and BDP-π digital music player when used with the correct Bryston-supplied cable. Because the PS-3 is engineered for specific Bryston equipment, it is not a universal replacement power supply; compatibility should always be confirmed before connection.

A single output makes the PS-3 an economical choice for one compatible component. Systems containing several externally powered Bryston products may be better served by Bryston’s multi-output MPS-2. Measuring only 5.7 inches wide, the PS-3 fits easily on crowded equipment racks, yet its substantial steel construction and 5.4-pound weight reflect Bryston’s emphasis on durability.
