Cambridge Audio's New Flagship
The Evo 300 is Cambridge Audio's most powerful streaming amp yet. It is a clear step up from the Evo 150 that made the range known. Hypex NCOREx Class D modules sit in a dual-mono, balanced layout.
It delivers 300 watts a channel into 8 ohms and 550 watts into 4 ohms. That is enough to drive a demanding pair of speakers from one box. An ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M chip handles the DAC work. It decodes PCM up to 32-bit and 768kHz, plus DSD512.
Cambridge's fourth-generation StreamMagic covers nearly every service that matters. That means Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, internet radio, AirPlay 2, Google Cast and Roon Ready. Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX HD covers wireless sources. Ethernet and Wi-Fi both handle the network end of it.
A moving-magnet phono stage is built in, so a turntable plugs straight in. An HDMI input with eARC brings TV sound in over one cable. An Evo CD input pairs it with Cambridge's own CD transport.
A 6.35mm headphone jack and a subwoofer output finish the panel. The sub output has its own level and crossover controls, so a sub can be set up once and left alone.
Designed to Be Looked At, Too
A 7.8-inch color display shows album art and VU meters, so it looks the part too. Swappable aluminum side panels come in real wood veneer or a black slatted finish. The look can change with the room. Dual binding posts support separate A and B speaker zones.
At 7.2 kilograms and 35.2cm deep, the Evo 300 fits where four boxes never would. That is an amplifier, a streamer, a DAC and a phono stage, all in one place.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Ed Selley of The Ear, in a July 29, 2026 review, wrote that with the Evo 300, "the longer you spend with them, the more fundamentally right they sound," praising its "powerful yet refined sound with excellent control" and a level of "detail, three dimensionality and tonal realism" he found genuinely accomplished. He singled out the streaming platform, noting "Stream Magic is up there with the best of the breed," and found HDMI eARC performance for television audio "no less accomplished" than its music playback. His overall take: "The Evo 300 does more, does it better and costs less" than Cambridge's previous flagship, calling it "a different sort of flagship" with only NAD's M33v2 offering real competition at a higher price.
Who Is This Integrated Amplifier Best For?
- You want a true one-box flagship system — 300 watts per channel, a DAC, phono stage, and every major streaming service in one chassis.
- You're driving genuinely demanding speakers — 550 watts per channel into 4 ohms handles serious current draw.
- Your TV needs a real amplifier — HDMI eARC brings television audio in over a single cable.
- You want the system to look as good as it sounds — interchangeable wood veneer or slatted side panels and a color display.
- You run a moving coil cartridge — the built-in phono stage is moving-magnet only, so an outboard phono preamplifier into one of its line inputs covers a moving coil.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Connect your speakers to either (or both) zones of binding posts and your turntable to the phono input. Your TV joins by HDMI eARC, Cambridge's own CD transport uses the dedicated Evo CD input, and streaming services connect over Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth through StreamMagic. Headphones plug into the front panel, and a subwoofer joins the dedicated output with its own level and crossover control.
Everything from there runs through the color display and StreamMagic app.
