What You Need to Know
What Is the Evo 300?
The Evo 300 is a streaming amplifier. That means it combines several things you would normally buy as separate boxes — an amplifier to power your speakers, a DAC (digital-to-analog converter) to turn digital music into sound, and a streamer to pull music from the internet — into one unit. Add a pair of speakers, and you have a complete system.
The Evo 300 is the new flagship of Cambridge Audio's Evo line, sitting above the Evo 150 SE. It is built for listeners who want serious power and control, without a rack full of separate components.
How It Makes Your Music Sound Better
The Evo 300 is built around Hypex NCOREx amplifier modules in what is called a dual-mono design — meaning the left and right channels each get their own dedicated amplifier circuit, instead of sharing one. This helps keep the two channels of your music separate and precise, for a clearer sense of space between instruments and voices. Each channel puts out 300 watts into an 8-ohm speaker, or 550 watts into a more demanding 4-ohm speaker, so the Evo 300 has plenty of power in reserve for larger rooms or harder-to-drive speakers.
Digital conversion is handled by an ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC (the chip that turns digital music files into the signal your speakers use), which supports high-resolution files up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 without unnecessary processing along the way.
The Evo 300 runs on Cambridge Audio's StreamMagic Gen 4 platform, giving you native access to Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect (with MQA), Amazon Music, Qobuz Connect, Deezer, and internet radio, plus AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Roon Ready support.
An HDMI eARC input lets you send your TV's sound through the Evo 300 as well, so the same system that plays your music can also handle movies, shows, and games. And if you still spin records, a built-in moving-magnet phono stage lets you connect a turntable directly, with no separate phono preamp needed.
What People Are Saying
AVForums reviewer Ed Selley gave the Evo 300 a perfect 10 out of 10 and named it a Best Buy, calling it a genuine step up from Cambridge Audio's previous flagship. HomeCineSolutions rated it 9 out of 10 after testing it with three different pairs of speakers, praising its power and bass control. Early hands-on impressions from TechRadar were also positive, though a full lab review from that publication has not been published yet. You can read full details in the Reviews section below.
Who Is the Evo 300 Best For?
You want one box that replaces an amplifier, a DAC, and a streamer.
You have speakers that need real power to sound their best, especially in a larger room.
You want to connect a turntable, a TV, and streaming services to the same system.
You want the option to add a subwoofer or run speakers in two different rooms.
You like the idea of changing the amplifier's look with swappable side panels.
How It Connects to Your System
Unlike a standalone streamer, the Evo 300 has its own built-in amplifier, so all you need to add is a pair of passive speakers — there's no separate amp or receiver required. It offers two speaker outputs (A and B), which you can run separately or together, so you can power two pairs of speakers, or use one pair in a second room.
On the input side, you get two RCA inputs, a balanced XLR input, and a moving-magnet phono stage for a turntable. Digitally, there is a TOSLINK optical input, a coaxial S/PDIF input, a USB-B input for connecting a computer, and the new HDMI eARC input for your TV. A dedicated subwoofer output with adjustable level and crossover makes it easy to add a subwoofer later if you want deeper bass. There is also a 6.35mm headphone jack on the front for private listening, and a preamp output if you ever want to add a separate power amplifier down the road.
For streaming, connect the Evo 300 to your Wi-Fi or Ethernet network, and you're ready to go through the StreamMagic app or directly from apps like Spotify and Tidal.

HomeCineSolutions — 9/10, July 31, 2026
After testing the Evo 300 with three different speaker pairings, HomeCineSolutions rated it 9 out of 10 overall, highlighting its power and control (9.5/10) and its extensive connectivity (9.5/10), calling it "a powerful and precise all-in-one, to be paired carefully."
TechRadar — Early Hands-On, July 2026
In an early hands-on listen, TechRadar described the Evo 300 as "a real step up in pretty much every way" compared to the Evo 150 SE. This was a first-listen impression rather than a full lab review, but the early word is promising.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a separate amplifier or receiver?
No. The Evo 300 has its own built-in amplifier, so all you need to add is a pair of passive speakers. It puts out 300 watts per channel into 8 ohms, which is enough for most speakers, including many demanding, harder-to-drive models.
Can I connect a subwoofer?
Yes. The Evo 300 has a dedicated subwoofer output with its own adjustable crossover, level, and phase controls, so you can tailor it to your speakers and room.
Can I use a turntable with a moving-coil cartridge?
Not directly. The built-in phono stage supports moving-magnet (MM) cartridges only. If your turntable uses a moving-coil (MC) cartridge, you will need a separate MC-compatible phono preamp between the turntable and the Evo 300.
Will this work with my TV?
Yes. The Evo 300 has an HDMI eARC input, so you can connect it to a compatible TV and route the TV's audio through your speakers.
Does it come with a remote control?
Yes, a remote control with 2 AAA batteries is included in the box, along with front-panel controls and the StreamMagic app.
How is the Evo 300 different from the Evo 150 SE?
The Evo 300 doubles the Evo 150 SE's power output, moves to a dual-mono amplifier design with a fully balanced preamp stage, and upgrades to a higher-grade ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC. It also has a larger 7.8-inch display, up from 6.8 inches on the Evo 150 SE.
Can I run speakers in two rooms?
Yes. The Evo 300 has two speaker outputs (A and B) that you can run separately or together, so you can power two pairs of speakers in different rooms, or switch between two pairs in the same room.
What else do I need to get started?
At minimum, you'll need a pair of passive speakers and a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. If you plan to add a turntable, subwoofer, or TV, you may also want the right cables from our Cables section. Give us a call if you'd like help planning your full setup.
