World-First SMC Headphone Drivers

The IO-12 is the first headphone to use DALI’s patented SMC technology in its driver magnet system. SMC stands for Soft Magnetic Compound. It reduces hysteresis, eddy currents, and other forms of distortion inside the driver.

Each 50mm driver uses a free-edge paper-fiber cone, much like a DALI loudspeaker. This large, rigid cone moves air with control, giving music a natural midrange, strong dynamics, and clean bass.
