The Sonik 3 is the larger of the two standmounts in DALI’s Sonik series. It puts a full 7-inch Clarity Cone woofer under the same 29 mm soft dome tweeter as the rest of the range, crossing over at 2,300 Hz. The cabinet is 13.7 inches tall.

Each cabinet measures 13.7 by 7.8 by 12.1 inches and weighs just over 14 pounds with its grille. DALI recommends 2 to 20 inches from the wall behind. There is no built-in wall bracket on this model; it is made for a stand or a deep shelf.

SMC, the Magnet That Cuts Distortion

DALI’s patented Soft Magnetic Composite sits in the woofer’s pole piece, where it reduces the eddy currents and hysteresis that add distortion to an ordinary iron motor. DALI says the result is "cleaner, more detailed and relaxed midrange performance". It is the same idea used in its dearest speakers.

How Do They Connect to Your System?

Speaker cable runs from your amplifier to a single pair of binding posts on each cabinet, red to red and black to black, with both runs the same length. The posts take banana plugs, spades or bare wire. These are passive speakers, so there is nothing else to power or configure.

Point them straight ahead rather than toward your seat, and give the rear port a few inches. The Ear found the treble smoothed out and the bass tightened once the toe-in was removed and the speakers moved off the wall.
