The Sweet Spot of DALI's SONIK Line, With a Hybrid Tweeter
The DALI SONIK 7 is a floorstanding speaker with two 7-inch Clarity Cone woofers and DALI's Hybrid Tweeter, a 1-inch soft dome paired with a 17-by-45mm planar magnetostatic driver. It is sold each, so a stereo pair is two.
The cabinet stands 39.6 inches tall and 7.8 inches wide, and each speaker weighs 35.7 pounds. Sensitivity is 88.5 dB into a nominal 6 ohms, and DALI recommends 30 to 180 watts of amplifier power.
The Hybrid Tweeter is a step up from a single dome tweeter, adding a planar driver alongside it for extended high-frequency detail. Both woofers share the same Clarity Cone diaphragm and SMC magnet technology used across the SONIK line.
Where the Hybrid Tweeter Earns Its Keep
A Second Tweeter for the Top Octave
The 1-inch soft dome handles the mid-treble, while a 17-by-45mm planar magnetostatic driver takes over above it, a design DALI calls the Hybrid Tweeter. The two work as one wide-dispersion output rather than a simple tweeter-and-supertweeter stack.
Two 7-inch Clarity Cone woofers use the same paper-and-wood-fiber diaphragm and SMC magnet system to keep distortion down as the volume climbs, the same approach used throughout the SONIK line.
The Numbers, and What They Ask of Your Amplifier
DALI quotes a frequency range of 36 Hz to 30 kHz within 3 dB, and a maximum output of 110 dB. Nominal impedance is 6 ohms, and DALI recommends 30 to 180 watts per channel into that load.
The rear-firing Dual Flare port is tuned to 39 Hz. The single-wire terminal accepts banana plugs, spades, or bare wire; DALI does not offer a bi-wire version of this cabinet.
What Reviewers Are Saying
German hi-fi site LowBeats tested the SONIK 7 in May 2026 and awarded it their top rating, summing up the review with a verdict that translates to master class for the price.
STEREO magazine, another German publication, gave the SONIK 7 its Editor's Recommendation award, and HIFI.DE scored it 8.5 out of 10, both describing a warm, engaging sound that doesn't demand a powerful amplifier to shine.
HIFI.DE's review noted the bass could be more precise and the treble occasionally sharp — trade-offs some reviewers accept at this price, but worth knowing going in.
Who Is This Floorstanding Speaker Best For?
- You want DALI's Hybrid Tweeter without stepping up to the largest SONIK — a planar driver alongside the dome tweeter, for extended top-end detail
- Midrange and bass with more scale than a compact tower — two 7-inch Clarity Cone woofers fill a medium to larger room comfortably
- Your amplifier is good rather than enormous — 88.5 dB sensitivity and a 30 to 180 watt window mean a quality integrated amplifier is all it needs
- You want one speaker per cabinet, priced and shipped that way — the SONIK 7 is sold each, so order two for a stereo pair
- You want cinema-depth bass from the towers alone — the SONIK 7 is rated to 36 Hz, which covers music and most movies comfortably. For the deepest home-theater effects, add one of our subwoofers and let the towers do what they do best
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Fit the spike outriggers or the rubber feet before positioning the pair. Stand the speakers parallel to the back wall rather than angled toward the listening seat, roughly 8 to 40 inches from the wall behind them. Each cabinet has a single pair of binding posts for banana plugs, spades, or bare wire; there is no bi-wire terminal on this model.
Give the drivers time to settle. DALI recommends up to 100 hours of playback before the SONIK 7 reaches its full performance.
Two cables, two speakers, and you are listening.
Pairs Well With
What finishes the system around a pair of SONIK 7:
- Integrated amplifiers — 30 to 180 watts into 6 ohms is the window DALI gives
- Stereo amplifiers — a separate power amp if you want more headroom
- Speaker cables — single-wire runs, since this model has no bi-wire terminal
- Speaker isolation feet — an alternative to the included spikes on a wood or tile floor
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the price for one speaker or a pair?
One. The SONIK 7 is sold each, so order two for a stereo pair, or one to match an existing speaker.
What comes in the box?
The speaker, a front grille, spike outriggers and screws, spikes and lock nuts, hemispherical rubber feet, a toolkit, and a document pack.
What amplifier do I need?
DALI recommends 30 to 180 watts into 6 ohms. Sensitivity is 88.5 dB, so a quality integrated amplifier is enough to drive a pair well.
Can I bi-wire the SONIK 7?
Each cabinet has a single pair of binding posts; DALI does not offer a bi-wire terminal on this line.
How far from the wall should it stand?
DALI recommends roughly 8 to 40 inches from the back wall, positioned parallel to the wall rather than angled toward your seat.
Do I have to use the spikes?
Use the outriggers either way — fit the included spikes for carpet, or the rubber feet for a hard floor.
