One Box for Your Whole Digital Front End
If your music lives on Tidal, Qobuz, a network drive, or a folder of ripped CDs, the EverSolo DMP-A6 Gen 2 gathers all of it in one place. It’s a network streamer, a DAC, and a digital preamp in a single machined aluminum chassis. A 6-inch color touchscreen on the front shows album art, track details, and your choice of VU meters, so you can run the system without picking up your phone. The EverSolo Control app for iOS and Android mirrors that screen when you’d rather sit down.
Connect it to an integrated amp and you have a complete digital source. Add an M.2 NVMe SSD — up to 4TB — and it holds your library too. It will even play and rip CDs with a USB disc drive attached.
What Gen 2 Changes Inside
Two ESS SABRE ES9038Q2M DAC chips split the work, one per channel, so left and right decode independently. An XMOS XU316 processor handles the digital input. For Gen 2, EverSolo moved to a linear power supply, which lowers the noise floor compared with the first version.
The balanced XLR outputs measure better than 128dB for signal-to-noise and dynamic range, with THD+N below 0.000092% (−120dB). The RCA outputs measure better than 124dB. Frequency response is 20Hz–20kHz, ±0.15dB. Playback reaches PCM 768kHz/32-bit and DSD512, with full MQA decoding. Gen 2 also adds an HDMI ARC input, a 12V trigger output, and Wake-on-LAN.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Ed Selley reviewed the DMP-A6 Gen 2 for AVForums on June 11, 2025, scored it 10/10, and gave it a Best Buy award. "At the most fundamental level though, this is sensational performance under a grand," he wrote, concluding that "Eversolo has taken its fabulous opening effort and gone and made it better still."
Writing for Headfonics on July 5, 2025, reviewer James called the sound "on the neutral-warm side with good clarity and openness" and said the unit "delivers the best UI and mirror-control experience I have tried."
Who Is This Streamer Best For?
- Listeners who already have an amp they like. It handles streaming, decoding, and volume, then hands off over XLR or RCA.
- People with large local collections. An internal SSD, network shares, and USB drives all appear in one music library.
- Roon subscribers. It’s certified Roon Ready, so it appears as an endpoint with no setup work.
- Anyone tired of app-only control. The front screen does everything, even when your phone is elsewhere.
- Not the right fit if you need a headphone jack or built-in amplification. There’s no headphone jack and no speaker amp, so plan on separate amplification. It also doesn’t support Chromecast.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Balanced XLR outputs put out 5V and the RCA pre-outputs put out 2.5V, so you can feed an integrated amp, a preamp, or a power amp directly. Wired Ethernet or dual-band Wi-Fi brings in the network. On the input side, there’s USB-C for a computer, optical and coaxial for other digital sources, HDMI ARC for your TV, and Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD and LDAC.
If you’d rather use an outboard DAC, the USB audio output feeds one at up to DSD512 and PCM 768kHz/32-bit, with coaxial and optical as alternatives. HDMI passes multichannel PCM and native DSD up to 5.1, and the 12V trigger can wake your amp with the streamer.
Pairs Well With
Building your system? Here are some great companions for the EverSolo DMP-A6 Gen 2:
- Integrated amplifiers to power your speakers
- Bookshelf speakers for a compact two-channel system
- Interconnect cables in balanced XLR or single-ended RCA
- Power cables for the linear supply
- Audio racks to keep the touchscreen at eye level
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a separate DAC?
No. The dual ES9038Q2M DACs are built in, and you can connect straight to an amplifier. If you already own a DAC you love, the digital outputs let you use it instead.
Can I run it directly into a power amp?
Yes. The RCA jacks are pre-outputs and output level is adjustable, so it can serve as your digital preamp.
How much music can it store?
The M.2 slot takes a 2280-format NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD up to 4TB. The drive isn’t included.
Which streaming services work with it?
Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, and HIGHRESAUDIO are built in, plus Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Roon Ready, DLNA, UPnP, and WebDAV. You can also install additional Android apps.
Can it play and rip CDs?
Yes, with a USB CD drive connected. You can play a disc or copy it to the internal SSD or a USB drive.
What’s the difference between this and the Master Edition?
Both use the same DAC chips and connections. The Master Edition adds a femtosecond clock, upgraded op-amps, and an RGB display ring.
