Timing is where the Master Edition separates itself. An OCXO oven-controlled oscillator works with a PLL as the master clock, and a 10MHz external clock input lets the whole system lock to one reference if you own one.

The CD section is not a laptop drive pressed into service. EverSolo specifies a silent mechanism with error correction, tuned for audio rather than data, which is the difference between a disc that plays and a disc that reads reliably.
