What You Need to Know

The MartinLogan Motion MC8 is all about "more"—the biggest, most powerful speaker in the Motion CI in-ceiling line. Its signature Folded Motion Tweeter packs eight to ten times the surface area of a typical 1-inch dome into a thin-film diaphragm that "squeezes" air with vanishingly low distortion, while an 8-inch woven fiberglass woofer delivers punchy bass down to 44Hz. Controlled dispersion focuses the sound on the seating area, making the MC8 ideal for music zones and object-based surround (Dolby Atmos, DTS:X) alike—even under vaulted ceilings.

A hand-built Vojtko crossover with polypropylene capacitors and low-DCR inductors ties the drivers together, spring-loaded binding posts accept up to 12AWG wire, and the paintable magnetic micro-perf grille has no visible bezel. An optional retrofittable back enclosure contains sound from traveling into rooms above; skip it and the MC8 uses the ceiling cavity's air volume for even more bass. Pre-install brackets and square grilles also available.
