Meze Audio 99 NEO Headphone - Black

A Fresh, Modern Take on the 99 Series

The Meze Audio 99 NEO brings the brand's signature 99-series sound into a modern, metal-and-plastic body, offering a genuinely contemporary alternative to the wood-bodied 99 Classics for a more urban, modern look overall.

A closed-back 40mm dynamic driver anchors the 99 NEO, tuned for the same easy-to-enjoy character the 99 series is genuinely known for, just wrapped in a distinctly different overall design.

At 26 ohms and 103dB sensitivity, the 99 NEO is genuinely easy to drive from a phone or laptop, needing no dedicated amplifier at all to reach a comfortable listening volume indoors.

Where the Closed-Back Design Earns Its Keep

A Lightweight Build for Everyday Carry

At just 260 grams, the 99 NEO's ABS plastic earcups keep total weight genuinely low, trading the Classics' wood for a build that's genuinely lighter and more travel-friendly overall each day.

Vegan leather earpads provide a comfortable seal against the ear, sealing out ambient noise thanks to the closed-back design, which genuinely suits commuting and shared spaces alike quite well indeed.

Built to Handle Calls as Well as Music

The included cable terminates in dual 3.5mm TS connectors with an inline microphone and remote, letting the 99 NEO double as a genuinely capable everyday headset for calls without any fuss.

A 6.3mm adapter extends compatibility to desktop amplifiers and home receivers, so the same headphone genuinely works equally well at a desk as it does out and about each day.

Who Is the 99 NEO Best For?

• You want the 99-series sound in a more modern package: the same easy-to-enjoy character, wrapped in metal and plastic instead of wood
• You want a genuinely lightweight everyday headphone: at 260 grams, it's noticeably lighter than the wood-bodied Classics
• You take calls through your headphones regularly: the included cable's inline mic and remote handle that without any extra accessories
• You don't want to think about amplification: 103dB sensitivity means a phone or laptop drives it easily on its own
• You want a lighter, modern build — the 99 NEO in metal and matte black

How Does It Connect to Your System?

Dual 3.5mm TS connectors accept the included 1.5-meter Kevlar OFC cable, complete with an inline microphone and remote for calls and media control from your phone.

A gold-plated 6.3mm adapter is included too, so the same cable and headphone connect just as easily to a desktop amplifier or home receiver when needed.

Pairs Well With

What finishes the system around a 99 NEO:

• Headphone amplifiers — not required, but a genuine step up in control for home listening
• Digital-to-analog converters — a clean digital source feeding your amp matters as much as the amp itself
• Headphone cables — the standard 3.5mm connectors accept a wide range of aftermarket options
• Headphone accessories — a case protects the earcups and earpads while traveling

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a headphone amplifier for the 99 NEO?

Not at all. At 103dB sensitivity and 26 ohms, it's genuinely easy to drive from a phone or laptop, with an amplifier as an optional extra rather than a requirement.

How is this different from the 99 Classics?

The Classics use genuine walnut wood ear cups for a warmer, traditional look; the NEO uses ABS plastic and metal for a lighter, more modern everyday design.

How much isolation does the closed-back design provide?

Meaningful isolation for everyday use, suiting a commute or an open office well, though it isn't fully sealed the way active noise cancellation is.

Can I take calls with the 99 NEO?

Yes. The included cable has an inline microphone and remote, letting you answer calls and control playback directly from the cable itself.

What comes in the box?

The 99 NEO headphone, a 1.5-meter Kevlar OFC cable with inline mic and remote, a cable pouch, a 6.3mm adapter, and a hard EVA carrying pouch.
