The MoFi Electronics UltraDeck Turntable was developed with the same goal that has guided Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab for decades: preserve the information contained in the original recording. Its substantial Delrin platter, isolated synchronous motor, inverted bearing and 10-inch aluminum tonearm create a quiet, stable platform for retrieving music from the record groove.

The UltraDeck is available in four configurations:

• No Cartridge: For listeners who already own a preferred cartridge or want to create a custom analog front end.
• UltraTracker: A moving-magnet cartridge with a Nude Elliptical stylus and an open, lively presentation.
• MasterTracker: MoFi’s premium moving-magnet cartridge, featuring a Micro-Line stylus and billet-aluminum body for greater resolution and more precise tracking.
• UltraGold MC: A low-output moving-coil cartridge with a Nude Shibata stylus and boron cantilever for the highest level of performance offered in the UltraDeck packages.

A 6.8-Pound Delrin Platter

The UltraDeck’s 1.3-inch-thick platter is machined from Delrin, a dimensionally stable polymer with mechanical properties that closely match those of a vinyl record. This similarity allows unwanted record vibration to pass into the platter instead of reflecting back toward the stylus.

At 6.8 pounds, the platter provides substantial rotational mass while remaining acoustically inert. Its integral playing surface eliminates the need for a separate platter mat and helps create the quiet background required to hear low-level musical detail.

Isolated Synchronous Motor and Inverted Bearing

A 300-rpm AC synchronous motor is isolated from the plinth to prevent motor vibration from reaching the platter and tonearm. The stepped motor pulley provides playback at 33⅓ and 45 rpm, while the belt-drive arrangement mechanically separates the platter from the motor.

The platter rotates on an inverted bearing engineered for smooth, consistent operation. Working together, the motor, belt, bearing and high-mass platter deliver excellent speed stability with a signal-to-noise ratio of 74dB.

The 10-Inch MoFi Ultra Tonearm

The included Ultra tonearm uses a straight 10-inch aluminum arm tube and precision gimbaled bearings. Its longer effective length reduces tracking-angle error compared with many conventional 9-inch tonearms, while Cardas internal wiring provides a high-quality signal path from the cartridge.

Adjustable vertical tracking angle, azimuth, tracking force and anti-skating allow the UltraDeck to support a wide range of moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges. The tonearm accommodates cartridges weighing from 5 to 10 grams.

Isolation Developed with HRS

The UltraDeck rests on four height-adjustable anti-vibration feet developed in collaboration with Harmonic Resolution Systems. These feet help isolate the turntable from floor movement, equipment-rack vibration and acoustic energy from the loudspeakers.

The rigid plinth combines an MDF core with aluminum reinforcement, providing the mass and structural stability needed to keep the platter and tonearm properly aligned.

Choose Your Cartridge

No Cartridge

Choose the no-cartridge version if you already own a compatible cartridge or want to select one specifically for your listening preferences and phono preamplifier. The Ultra tonearm accommodates cartridges weighing between 5 and 10 grams.

UltraTracker Moving Magnet

The UltraTracker uses MoFi’s V-Twin dual-magnet generator, which mirrors the arrangement of the cutting head used to create a record groove. Its Nude Elliptical stylus offers a strong balance of detail, smooth tracking and everyday usability. Its 3.5mV output works with a standard moving-magnet phono input.

MasterTracker Moving Magnet

The MasterTracker upgrades the moving-magnet package with a Micro-Line stylus, tapered aluminum cantilever, lower-mass magnets and a carefully damped billet-aluminum body. It retrieves finer groove information while controlling cartridge-body resonance. Its 3mV output is compatible with a conventional MM phono stage.

UltraGold Moving Coil

The UltraGold is the most advanced cartridge offered with the UltraDeck. Its Nude Shibata stylus and boron cantilever provide extensive groove contact, fast transient response and highly detailed tracking. A neodymium magnet, permendur yoke and PCOCC copper coils complete its low-output moving-coil generator.

The UltraGold produces 0.4mV and requires a moving-coil phono preamplifier with appropriate gain and loading. MoFi recommends a load impedance of at least 100 ohms.

Setup and System Matching

The UltraDeck arrives partially assembled to protect its precision components. Initial setup includes installing the Delrin platter, drive belt, counterweight, anti-skating weight and dust cover, followed by leveling the turntable.

Cartridge-equipped versions arrive with the selected cartridge installed and aligned at the factory. Tracking force, anti-skating and tonearm alignment should still be verified after unpacking. The no-cartridge version requires complete cartridge installation and calibration.
