Two Platforms, One Clear Purpose

Music Hall's dual-plinth construction separates the most vibration-sensitive components from the turntable's support and connection points. The upper platform carries the platter, main bearing, tonearm, and cartridge; the lower platform supports the adjustable feet and rear connections. Four Sorbothane hemispheres between the layers provide suspension and damping.

This mechanical separation helps keep energy from the equipment rack, loudspeakers, and surrounding room from reaching the stylus. Three adjustable tip-toe feet and protective cups provide stable support, while the built-in circular spirit level makes accurate leveling easier.

The Motor Stands Apart

The 15-volt DC motor sits in its own resonance-damping puck within a cutout at the front-left corner of the turntable. It is not mechanically attached to the plinth, helping prevent motor vibration from traveling through the chassis to the platter or tonearm. Its position diagonally opposite the arm also lengthens the vibration path away from the stylus.

Electronic speed control provides pushbutton selection of 33⅓ or 45 RPM without moving the belt between pulley steps. Speed deviation is rated at ±0.06%, wow and flutter at ±0.10%, and rumble at better than –73dB, supporting stable pitch and a low mechanical-noise floor.

Carbon Fiber Control from Groove to Generator

The one-piece, nine-inch carbon-fiber tonearm combines low mass with high rigidity, helping the Ortofon stylus follow groove movement rather than storing unwanted energy. Its 8.5-gram effective mass partners well with the 2M Bronze and leaves room for future cartridge experimentation.

Vertical tracking angle and azimuth are adjustable, and the damped cueing mechanism lowers the stylus smoothly onto the record. The decoupled counterweight places its center of gravity level with the stylus tip, allowing it to function as a resonance damper as well as a balancing mass. The included 2M Bronze is factory-mounted and aligned, though tracking force and anti-skate should be checked during final setup.

Acrylic Stability with Fine-Line Precision

The non-resonant acrylic platter provides a stable rotational platform without the metallic ringing associated with some platter materials. A soft felt mat supports the record, while the metal screw-on clamp improves coupling and can help flatten mildly warped LPs during playback.

Beneath the platter, a precision stainless-steel main bearing sheathed in Teflon is designed for smooth, low-noise rotation. At the groove, the 2M Bronze's Nude Fine Line diamond and aluminum cantilever retrieve small modulations with precision. Ortofon recommends a 1.5-gram tracking force and a 47-kilohm moving-magnet load with 150–300pF capacitance.

Ready for a Serious Analog System

Gold-plated RCA output connectors and the supplied detachable phono cable make system integration straightforward. Connect the turntable to a moving-magnet phono input, or use an outboard MM phono preamplifier feeding any standard line-level input. Attach the separate ground lead to the phono stage or amplifier's grounding post to minimize hum.

The MMF-7.3 SE does not contain a phono preamplifier, USB output, Bluetooth transmitter, or automatic start/stop mechanism. That focused design keeps the signal path simple and gives the owner freedom to select the phono electronics that best suit the rest of the system.

Built for Long Listening and Future Upgrades

Electronic speed selection makes moving between LPs and 45-RPM releases convenient, while the dustcover protects the gloss-black finish and playing surface between sessions. The supplied 45-RPM adapter handles large-hole singles, and the removable phono cable makes later cable replacement easy.

The adjustable arm can support a wide range of cartridges weighing approximately 2–16 grams. The replaceable 2M Bronze stylus simplifies routine maintenance, and the shared Bronze/Black generator platform allows a future 2M Black or 2M Black LVB 250 stylus upgrade without replacing the cartridge body.

For best performance, place the turntable on a rigid, level, low-vibration surface away from speakers. The high-gloss piano-black finish gives the deck a formal, understated appearance, though a soft microfiber cloth is recommended to control visible dust and fingerprints.
