The Music Hall Belt for the MMF-1.3, MMF-1.5, Classic and US-1
This is Music Hall's own replacement drive belt, sold each, one belt per turntable. It fits the MMF-1.3, the MMF-1.5, the Classic and the US-1 — four decks that share the same drive geometry and therefore the same part.
A drive belt is the only consumable in a turntable. It stretches, the rubber hardens with age whether the deck gets used or not, and speed accuracy goes first. Eventually it lets go, usually with a record on the platter.
The OEM Part for Four Music Hall Decks
Fit and Materials
It fits the Music Hall MMF-1.3, MMF-1.5, Classic and US-1. This is the OEM belt made by Music Hall, which matters more on a belt than on most parts: length and section consistency are manufacturing properties, and a generic loop of roughly the right size is not equivalent.
Music Hall's range runs to a good many models across several drive layouts, and belts are not shared across all of them. Confirm your model against the four listed above before ordering, or measure the belt you are taking off.
Who Is This Belt Best For?
- You own an MMF-1.3, MMF-1.5, Classic or US-1 — the four decks this belt is cut for
- Your belt is glazed, slack or snapped — the one part that puts a turntable out of action
- You want the OEM part — made by Music Hall rather than a generic loop of similar length
- You would rather have a spare — belts fail without warning and the deck waits for the post
- You own a different Music Hall — the MMF-2 and MMF-7 families take their own belts, listed in turntable belts
How Do You Fit It?
Lift the platter off — on most decks it lifts straight up, sometimes with a sub-platter under it. Slip the old belt off the motor pulley and the sub-platter, and wipe both with a clean, dry cloth. Loop the new belt around the sub-platter, then over the pulley, keeping it flat and untwisted. Refit the platter and spin it by hand before switching on.
Pairs Well With
What most owners replacing a belt shop next.
- Stylus force gauges — the other setting that drifts quietly over the years
- Record cleaning solutions — a new belt deserves clean records under the stylus
- Record brushes — a dry sweep before every side
- Cartridge alignment tools — worth re-checking whenever the platter comes off
Frequently Asked Questions
How many do I need?
One. The belt is sold each and these are single-belt turntables.
Which turntables does it fit?
The Music Hall MMF-1.3, MMF-1.5, Classic and US-1. Other Music Hall models take different belts, so check yours against that list.
When should I replace a belt?
When it looks glazed or feels slack, when the platter takes longer than it used to to reach speed, or when speed will not settle. A belt hardens and stretches gradually, so the change creeps up on you.
