What is the C 700 V2, and what does it do?
The NAD C 700 V2 is a "just add speakers" all-in-one. Inside one compact aluminum chassis, NAD has packed a streaming player, a digital-to-analog converter, a preamp, and a power amp. Connect a pair of speakers and you have a complete music system.
The V2 builds on the original C 700, which NAD launched in 2021. The new version keeps the core amplifier and the BluOS streaming brain that made the first C 700 popular. It then adds a moving-magnet phono stage for turntables, refines the digital circuitry, and opens the door to Dirac Live room correction.
BluOS is NAD's wireless streaming platform (NAD and Bluesound share it). It runs in a free app on your phone, tablet, or laptop. You browse music, pick a song, and the C 700 V2 plays it through your speakers — wired or completely wireless.
What's New in V2 — and Why It Matters
NAD describes the C 700 V2 as a refresh designed to "polish anything that even remotely looked like a rough edge" on the original. Three things changed. The digital-to-analog stage was redesigned for wider dynamic range and lower noise. A moving-magnet phono input was added for turntable owners. And Dirac Live room correction became an option through a separately purchased license.
The same compact aluminum body and 5-inch color display carry over. So does the HybridDigital UcD output stage. If you owned the original C 700, the V2 is the same idea, finished better.
Why does it matter? How does it improve your listening?
Streaming-amp combinations have to do a lot. Decode hi-res files, drive speakers cleanly, switch sources, sound musical. The C 700 V2 puts most of the work inside one well-engineered box, so the signal path stays short and the noise floor stays low.
The headline number is 80 watts per channel continuous into both 8 and 4 ohms — driven cleanly to under 0.04% distortion. Short-burst dynamic power reaches 100 W into 8 ohms and 125 W into 4 ohms, which helps the amp stay composed through musical peaks.
The digital side handles streams up to 24-bit / 192 kHz PCM with MQA decoding and rendering. The refined digital-to-analog stage in the V2 brings wider dynamic range and accurate imaging across all sources — streaming, optical, coaxial, HDMI eARC, and the new phono input.
What's different about how it's built?
The HybridDigital UcD output stage is NAD's pairing of an analog preamp circuit with a Class D power module developed in collaboration with Bruno Putzeys. UcD (Universal Class D) was an early modern Class D topology designed to keep distortion low and behavior predictable.
The result is high efficiency — the amp runs cool and stays small — combined with low measurable noise. Damping factor is over 90 across the audible range, meaning the C 700 V2 keeps tight control of the speakers it drives.
The phono input is moving-magnet only. NAD has designed it with accurate RIAA equalization (the standard EQ curve every vinyl record is cut to) so an MM cartridge plugs straight in. Moving-coil cartridges need an external phono stage.
HDMI eARC connects the C 700 V2 to a compatible TV with a single cable. The TV remote can then control volume, so TV listening doesn't require a separate remote.
