Add Speakers. That Is the Whole Shopping List.
The M33 V2 sits at the top of NAD's Masters Series. It is a preamplifier, a hi-res streamer, a DAC, an MM/MC phono stage, a headphone amplifier, and room correction, all in one chassis. The power section delivers more than 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and more than 380 watts into 4 ohms.
This is the second generation. NAD launched it at High End Munich in May 2025. It replaces the 2020 original with new Purifi Eigentakt modules, an upgraded ESS Sabre DAC, and timing technology developed with MQA Labs.
Your Turntable and Your Television Both Get a Socket
Analog sources have a balanced XLR input, RCA line inputs, and an MM/MC phono input. On the digital side there are two optical, two coaxial, an AES/EBU XLR, and a USB Type A port. HDMI eARC lets your TV remote control the volume.
Streaming runs on BluOS over Gigabit Ethernet or dual-band Wi-Fi. Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, and Roon Ready are all supported, plus two-way aptX HD Bluetooth. Two MDC2 slots leave room for later.
Where the Extra Money Actually Goes
The amplifier uses second-generation Purifi Eigentakt modules, built by NAD under license. Eigentakt is load-invariant, meaning frequency response stays flat no matter what speaker is connected. Distortion stays below 0.003% from 1 watt to 200 watts, and damping factor exceeds 800.
Conversion runs through an ESS Sabre ES9039PRO, the company's current top-tier chip. It is paired with a next-generation ESS ADC. Two MQA Labs technologies, FOQUS and QRONO, target timing errors in the converters. Signal-to-noise measures better than 98dB at 1 watt and better than 120dB at full output.
What Dirac Fixes That Better Speakers Cannot
A Dirac Live Limited Bandwidth license and calibration microphone are included. Dirac measures what your room does to the sound and corrects for it. An optional Bass Control licence adds two-subwoofer integration, calibrating each one separately through the pair of subwoofer outputs.
The phono stage is built to stand-alone standards rather than as a checkbox. Signal-to-noise runs better than 93dB on moving-magnet and better than 73dB on moving-coil. RIAA accuracy holds to within 0.2dB, and an infrasonic filter keeps record warp out of your woofers.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Ed Selley reviewed the M33 V2 for Sound Advice on February 12, 2026, and gave it an Award. He found that its "vast reserves of power and impressive grip ensures it can be huge fun too." Across his test speakers it drew bass extension "as good as I've experienced from any of them."
He had one complaint. The standby button sits on top of the display. As Selley put it, "If you idly rest your hand on top of it while making an adjustment you will switch it off." He described that as annoying until you train the habit out of yourself.
Who Is This Streaming Amplifier Best For?
- You want one box instead of five — streamer, DAC, preamp, phono stage, headphone amp, and 200 watts per channel, in a single chassis.
- Your room has never sounded quite right — Dirac Live ships with the microphone and applies to every source, analog inputs included.
- You run two subwoofers — dual outputs with selectable crossover, and independent calibration if you add the Bass Control licence.
- You play records seriously — the MM/MC phono stage measures like a stand-alone unit, not a bonus feature.
- You want one box to be the whole system — preamp, DAC, streamer, phono stage and 200-plus watts are inside, with XLR and RCA preamp outputs if you ever add a power amp. Start with our floorstanding speakers.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Speakers go to the single pair of binding posts, which take bare wire, bananas, or spades. A turntable connects to the phono input, set for moving-magnet or moving-coil. Balanced XLR and RCA handle your other analog sources.
Digital gear has two optical inputs, two coaxial, AES/EBU, and USB Type A. HDMI eARC brings in the television. Preamp outputs on both XLR and RCA let you bypass the internal amplifier entirely and drive a separate power amp.
Then you run Dirac once, and let the room stop arguing with you.
Pairs Well With
Building around the M33 V2? Here are some good companions:
- Speakers: 200 watts per channel and a damping factor over 800 grip a big pair — see our Floorstanding Speakers.
- Turntable: Put that stand-alone-grade phono stage to work — see our Turntables.
- Subwoofers: Two outputs and Dirac Bass Control reward running a pair — see our Subwoofers.
- Headphones: The high-current headphone amp drives planar-magnetic designs — see our Headphones.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much power does the NAD M33 V2 deliver?
More than 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms and more than 380 watts into 4 ohms. In bridge mode it exceeds 700 watts into 8 ohms.
Is Dirac Live included, or do I have to buy it?
The Limited Bandwidth licence and the calibration microphone are both included. Full Bass Control, which calibrates two subwoofers independently, is a paid upgrade.
Is the M33 V2 Roon Ready?
Yes. It is certified Roon Ready, and it also supports Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, and AirPlay 2 through the BluOS platform.
Can I use it with my TV?
Yes. The HDMI eARC input takes audio from the television, and your TV remote will control the volume.
What is different about the V2 compared with the original M33?
Second-generation Purifi Eigentakt amplifier modules, an upgraded ESS Sabre ES9039PRO DAC, a next-generation ESS ADC, and the FOQUS and QRONO timing technologies from MQA Labs.
Can I add a separate power amplifier later?
Yes. Balanced XLR and RCA preamp outputs let you bypass the internal amplifier, and two MDC2 expansion slots allow further upgrades.
