Ortofon 2M Mono SE Replacement Stylus
This is the genuine Ortofon replacement stylus for the 2M Mono SE cartridge. It carries a nude Shibata diamond on a white stylus assembly.
Ortofon no longer makes the 2M Mono SE cartridge. A fresh stylus is how owners keep this mono cartridge playing at its best.
A Nude Shibata Diamond
The Shibata tip has an r/R 6/50 µm profile. Ortofon says its polished shape gives a very wide contact area with the groove walls. That means detailed sound across the range, up to the highest frequencies in the groove.
Built for Mono Records
Ortofon created the 2M Mono SE as a tribute to the 2014 Beatles mono LP box set. It calls it the one mono cartridge to play all the old and new mono records in existence.
A mono cartridge does not respond to vertical movement. Ortofon says this makes it nearly immune to pinch effect and much less sensitive to dust, dirt and wear.
Which Cartridge Does It Fit?
Ortofon makes this stylus for the 2M Mono SE cartridge. Set the tracking force to 1.5 grams, within Ortofon's range of 1.4 to 1.7 grams.
What it is not: it is not the matched stylus for the regular 2M Mono or any other 2M cartridge. Those take their own styli, found in our replacement styli collection.
Who Is This Replacement Stylus Best For?
- 2M Mono SE owners with a worn stylus — a new genuine stylus restores the cartridge.
- Owners who want a spare — the cartridge is discontinued, so a backup stylus protects your setup.
- Mono record collectors — keep your dedicated mono cartridge in service.
- Beatles mono fans — the cartridge was made as a tribute to the mono box set.
- Not for — owners of any other cartridge, including the regular 2M Mono.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
- Leave the 2M Mono SE cartridge mounted on your tonearm.
- Gently pull the old stylus off the front of the cartridge body.
- Push the new stylus on until it seats firmly.
- Check the tracking force and set it to 1.5 grams.
Ortofon's Stylus 2M user guide covers the steps in detail.
Pairs Well With
What owners often need alongside a new stylus:
- Stylus force gauges — set the 1.5 g Ortofon recommends.
- Stylus cleaning — keep the new tip clean.
- Record cleaning solutions — clean records are easier on your stylus.
- Phono cartridges — if you need a new cartridge instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my 2M Mono SE?
Yes. Ortofon makes it as the genuine replacement part for the 2M Mono SE cartridge.
Will it fit the regular 2M Mono?
Ortofon lists it only for the 2M Mono SE. Call us at 800-942-0220 if you have another 2M cartridge.
What tracking force should I use?
Ortofon recommends 1.5 grams, within a range of 1.4 to 1.7 grams.
What stylus shape is it?

Do I need to realign my cartridge?
The cartridge body stays on the tonearm, so you only swap the stylus. Check the tracking force after fitting it.
