The Ortofon HiFi Care Accessory Pack — Five Tools, One Box
A turntable care and setup kit containing five accessories, sold as a pack. Ortofon assembled it as an essential toolkit: the things you need to set a turntable up correctly and then keep it working, without buying five separate items from five places.
The appeal is that most people buy these one at a time, usually after discovering they need one. Bought together they cost less than the sum, and more usefully they arrive before the problem does.
What Is in the Pack
Setup Tools
A Libelle — a bubble level — for getting the turntable level, which Ortofon notes is what underpins accurate tracking. An alignment tool for setting cartridge alignment with precision. And a pressure gauge for setting tracking force so the stylus performs safely and accurately.
Those three cover the setup sequence in order: level the deck, align the cartridge, set the force. Skip any of them and the other two are compromised — an unlevel turntable makes a correct tracking force the wrong tracking force.
Care Tools
A record brush to remove dust and debris from records — which Ortofon points out protects the stylus as much as it does the vinyl — and a fiber stylus brush for cleaning the tip itself, which they connect directly to how long a cartridge lasts.
Those two are the maintenance half. Between them they address the same dirt at both ends of the problem — what is on the record before it plays, and what has transferred to the diamond afterward.
Who Is This Pack Best For?
- You have just bought your first turntable — this is close to the full list of what you will need next
- You are setting up a cartridge — level, alignment and tracking force are the three steps, and all three tools are here
- You are buying a turntable as a gift — it covers the accessories the recipient will not know to ask for
- You own none of these already — bought together they cost less than assembling them piece by piece
- You already own a digital force gauge and a protractor — then you are paying twice for two of the five; buy the gaps individually from turntable accessories
How Do You Use It?
In sequence. Level the turntable with the Libelle first, front to back and side to side. Align the cartridge with the alignment tool. Set tracking force with the pressure gauge to whatever your cartridge specifies. Then the two brushes become the routine — records before playing, stylus between sides.
Pairs Well With
What most owners add to a starter kit.
- Cartridge alignment tools — protractors for the alignment you cannot do by eye
- Stylus force gauges — if you want a digital gauge rather than a beam
- Stylus cleaning — fluids and gels for what a dry brush leaves behind
- Record brushes — the rest of the range, including wet-capable brushes
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is included?
Five items: a Libelle bubble level, a record brush, a fiber stylus brush, an alignment tool and a pressure gauge for setting tracking force.
Is this enough to set up a turntable?
It covers the three measurements that matter — level, alignment and tracking force — plus routine cleaning. For a fine stylus profile you may want a more precise protractor, but as a starting point it is complete.
Will the tools work with any turntable?
They are general-purpose setup and care tools rather than Ortofon-specific fittings, so they suit conventional turntables and cartridges whatever the make.
Do I still need a stylus cleaning fluid?
The fiber brush handles loose material between sides. A hardened film that has built up over months needs a fluid or a gel to release it.
Is the pressure gauge digital?
Ortofon describes it as a pressure gauge for setting tracking force without specifying the type. If you want a digital readout to a hundredth of a gram, buy that separately.
