A Better OM from the Ground Up

The Ortofon Super OM 5E builds on the success of the popular OM 5E with a series of engineering refinements that deliver cleaner, more accurate sound. Improved generator design, lower distortion, and higher channel separation allow your records to reveal greater detail, wider soundstages, and more natural musical balance.

Elliptical Stylus for Greater Detail

The Super OM 5E features a precision elliptical diamond stylus that tracks the groove more accurately than a basic spherical stylus. Its shape maintains better contact with the groove walls, improving detail retrieval while reducing distortion and record wear. The result is cleaner highs, more articulate bass, and a more open, natural presentation.

Refined Generator Technology

Ortofon equips the Super OM 5E with split pole pins, a refinement that reduces magnetic losses at high frequencies. This extends frequency response, improves phase linearity, and contributes to the cartridge's excellent channel separation and smooth, detailed sound.

The cartridge body is molded from a rigid Noryl® glass-reinforced composite, minimizing unwanted resonance so more of what you hear comes from the music—not the cartridge itself.

Optimized for Virtually Any Tonearm

One of the OM Series' most innovative features is its removable weight plate. Leave it installed for standard-mass tonearms, or remove it to reduce cartridge weight to just 2.5 grams for excellent compatibility with many low-mass tonearms.

Upgrade Without Replacing the Cartridge

As your system evolves, so can your cartridge. The Super OM 5E accepts a wide range of interchangeable Ortofon styli, allowing you to improve performance simply by upgrading the stylus rather than replacing the entire cartridge.
