Jay Victor Put Cardas Copper in the Premier

Pangea Audio's Premier is the cable where the brand's copper changes. Jay Victor designed it around Cardas Grade One copper, made in the United States by Cardas Audio. Each channel gets a solid-core conductor. He has designed cables and connectors for more than forty years, and the Premier is that experience in an everyday interconnect.

Copper Drawn Slowly, on Purpose

The raw copper is mined in the United States, then drawn by Cardas in New England inside an argon-filled chamber. The slow draw yields long-crystal strands. George Cardas developed the grade for his own cables. Pangea buys it for the Premier rather than a generic oxygen-free copper.

Three Shields and a Return Path of Its Own

Most entry cables use one conductor per channel and let the shield carry the return. The Premier gives each channel its own OFC copper return conductor, so the shield only shields. Each conductor has its own shield. A foil layer covers the channel pair, and a braid covers the whole cable.

The Prime 400 Plug, and Why It Is Chrome

The Prime 400 RCA plug has a gold-plated brass body and a copolymer core insulator. Its one-piece center pin is gold plated and split, so it compresses and grips the jack. The ground ring is gold plated too, cut in four places to hold the jack's outer contact.

The barrel is machined brass under a baked-on chromium finish. Jay Victor chose chrome because paint on a barrel flakes after years of use, and chrome does not. A nylon braid jacket covers the cable itself. It bends easily and protects the cable from scuffing.

How Does It Connect to Your System?

Run the Premier from a line-level output, a DAC, streamer, CD player or phono stage, to a line-level input on your amplifier or preamp. Keep left to left and right to right at both ends. Push each plug on until the four-cut ground ring grips. The chrome barrel gives you something solid to hold.
