A Disc Player and a Streamer in a Half-Width Box
The CD15 Prisma plays discs and joins your network, in a cabinet 350mm across. That size is the point. It fits where a full-width component will not, and it still does both jobs rather than one of them well.
Prisma is Primare's own network platform. It brings AirPlay, Chromecast built-in, Bluetooth, Spotify Connect and DLNA, so the services you already use arrive without adding another box to the shelf.
Wireless runs on 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac across both 2.4 and 5GHz bands. The 5GHz band matters in a busy house, where the crowded 2.4GHz band is what makes streaming stutter mid-album. Wired Ethernet is fitted as well.
The Drive, the Converter and the Rates
Discs ride a Philips CDM-M10 mechanism, loaded through a slot rather than a tray. Conversion runs on an AKM AK4490, a converter with a reputation for a relaxed presentation rather than a clinical one.
From the network it handles WAV, LPCM, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, WMA and OGG up to 192kHz and 24 bits, and DSD to DSD128. Discs play at their native 44.1kHz, without upsampling.
Analog output is unbalanced RCA at 2.2 volts RMS from 50 ohms, with coaxial and optical digital outputs beside it. The cabinet is 350 by 329 by 73mm and weighs 6.6kg, in black or titanium.
Who Is This Player Best For?
- Your shelf is not full width — at 350mm across and 73 tall it fits a bookcase or a desk, where most CD players and streamers assume a full-size rack.
- You want discs and services in one box — Prisma brings AirPlay, Chromecast, Bluetooth and Spotify Connect alongside the disc drive, so nothing else has to be bought or matched.
- Your Wi-Fi is crowded — dual-band 802.11ac lets it sit on 5GHz, away from the congestion that makes a network player stutter mid-album.
- You keep high-resolution files — the network side reads FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF to 192kHz and 24 bits, plus DSD128, from a NAS or a computer.
- You are building a Primare 15 system — it is sized to match the I15 integrated amplifier and SC15 preamplifier, so a compact system still looks deliberate. See our integrated amplifiers.
How Does It Connect to Your System?
Run the RCA analog outputs to a line input on your amplifier. The AK4490 inside handles both your discs and everything arriving over the network on that same connection.
Join your network over Wi-Fi or Ethernet and control it from the Prisma app. If you would rather use your own converter, take the coaxial or optical output to it instead.
